A person wearing a complete body costume who actually has only one eye, one leg, one arm, one hand is told by the wise and elder to study hard and finish college to have a good life someday. What do you think? Should the person do what they wish which is to finish college? How can it be possible?
I can't see he can make it. With leg and eye one each I don't understand why he has to undergo such suffering. If you are the person, will you agree with the elder's advise that you go to college?

I think it should depend on what kind of person he is. To finish the college is just one choice, not everyone with a certificate will have a good life in the future, even if one has never get the chance to go to college, he can learn by himself to gain the necessary skill and ability to live better, but if he is really eager to get professional training or devote to study, no matter how hard it is, he himslf won't consider it as suffering.

I approve with the views you've mentioned. College is great but if the person's heart lies with other choices that as well lead to income generation, there must be nothing wrong. It is like choosing between jumping off a cliff and get millions or climbing down the steps and still be rewarded even a few amount. The important thing is you have your life not lost even if you have not earned a degree.

Learning shouldn't be limited by your physical abilities. I don't see why you think this is impossible. If the person has one eye, that person can read their books. If the person has one hand, that person can write. Why should that be suffering? I actually enjoy school. You say, "why should that person have to go?" I say, "why should that person have to miss out?" I guess we have different views on education.

Well it sounds like school is very different in your country.

don't you see why the elders advice that? because whatever we have studied will never be taken away from us and that will be forever a treasure. Knowledge is wisdom. Whatever is our liabilities in life we have to move and think of being positive. Try to improve and life would be beautiful.

I feel that the main question here is whether or not someone should pursue education despite great adversity (I really don't know what you're trying to get at with the whole costume and one limb thing). I think that everyone has atleast some adversity we have to overcome to accomplish our goals whatever they may be. In this example education is definetly a worthy goal pursuing and if there is one thing that will bring a person out of opression whether the opression be physical, mental, or soical education will always payoff.

One should not be limited from doing great things. You don't have to be whole to function wholly and complete. The healer is right in saying the man should get education or even college degree. This is where he could find his worth, could hone his skills and talents. With proper education and good guidance, he could do great things better than those who have complete sets of legs, eyes and body parts!

It was as if you said that a paper bridge can be traveled by vehicles without getting torn apart. Well there's nothing wrong with optimism. In fact, I encourage it. I just want to emphasize that if he fails, money and time spent on college will be a severe blow with the family who advised him to study sending him off to Coventry with rebukes such as: "You did not study hard." "If you concentrated on your studies you should have gone far." "We've given you all you needed to study and this is what you do? Drop out?" Talk those to the person with severe impairments and see how useless you are.

there is no reason why this person cant go to college. There may be other things that this person can do with their time but the can go to college. The person may be going through suffering, but they are still a person nonetheless and they are free to do tasks that able bodied people can do.
