Buried and The Devil

The other day we rented some movies. First it was Buried. I can't imagine how any movie company thought about putting a movie like this for people to pay money to see in a theater. The whole movie took place in a coffin type setting. I was hoping to see something else but the whole movie took place in a coffin?!
The next movie was called The Devil. I thought it was pretty good. Five people were trapped in an elevator and one of them was supposed to be the Devil. I really think the ending was good, taught me a lesson about saying you are really sorry about what you do or just refusing to accept the fact that what you are doing is wrong. I don't really remember hearing anyone talk or advertise this movie but it was interesting to watch and would recommend it to anyone.

I've watched buried in a fast forward manner, during the 5 minute beginning of the movie I really thought of it that it would just take place in the coffin.
Honestly, I find it really boring but the snake rattle scene did catch my attention.
I've also watched the devil, it's not the horror suspense type of movie I like but like what you have said that you'll learn something from it. It did disappoint me somehow because I really love horror movies and this one is not really that much scary or no other exciting twist about it.
One movies that I like was the shelter (2010), it was good movie for me since it has a nice twist at the end. :)

PDBME2,
Well, I just have to agree with some dumbfound bewilderment how a movie like Buried could be actually produced and made it to the screen. I just gave it a miss at one of the inflight movie selections with a personalized remark on a customer feedback form onboard.
As for the Devil, I am not a fan of horror movies other than my wife who I am sure will be watching it with me when I get back home. But from what you've posted the plot just sounds too simple to be horrifying enough. Anyway, I'll see how it is when I do get to watch it next week.
Since you brought this movie post, I think you might like one of the shows I caught while I was traveling. The movie title is Life As We Know It, starring Katherine Hiegl (Holly) and Josh Duhamel (Eric) as a pair of mismatched arranged blind date couple who suddenly find themselves becoming caregivers to an orphaned girl of their mutual friends who incidentally were responsible for their fateful blind date.
Talk about life and fate right? It is really quite what relationships is about nowadays. Not sure, how much you'll rate it but I can assure you that it will beat Buried anytime.

I think anything can beat Buried Skysucess. I have to find this movie that you mentioned. I love movies that you end learning something. No the Devil is not a horror movie at all, suspense maybe but not horror. We are doing a Bible study on Wednesdays about forgiveness, who makes it to heaven, or are you really saved? Well this made me think about people and are they really sorry for what they do in life?
I have to see the trailer on the movie. Hey I just watched it. I love Katherine Hiegl. She is so cute in movies. I think this movie my husband might even like it. I will definately rent it when I can.

I haven't watched Buried yet, but it has received a lot of critical praise because of its unique theme and Reynolds acting, so I might watched it even if its set was only a coffin. With Devil, hmm, I found the movie offer good premises but the acting was borderline atrocious. I though if it is more polished and if it was directed by different director, the result might have been better

Before the start of the week, I rented a bunch of movies, and have been watching every other day. I still have one movie left to watch and it is 'Buried'.
I'm not sure why I borrowed it, as I am a bit claustrophobic, but I think it was one of the movies being featured at the rental shop.
If I would hate the premise after watching the first 10-15 minutes of the movie, I might just skip it altogether.

Well I would watch it, don't let what I said discourage you but I really thought there would be more to the whole story. I kept telling my husband "There's got to be more to the whole movie????" At the end I was left thinking that they really saved alot of money filming in one location....

I'd seen both movies also. Well the movie Buried can attract movie goers since the lead actor and the only actor seen in the film is the popular Ryan Reynold. He will soon hit the cinema screen as Green Lantern. The movie storyline is great. but if given a chance again, I won't watch it in movie theater. I'll just wait for HBO or Cinemax to show the film. I think the producer of the film hit a jackpot in there, since the film looks cheap.
The second move you mention in here actually has a title of "Devil" and not "The Devil". It is also a great movie, but what more can you expect, it is a film made by a known movie writer, M. Night Shyamalan. Some of his film are "The Sixth Sense", "The Village", "The Happening", "Signs", "Lady in the Water", "The Last Airbender", and others.

I thought about that too that the movie didn't cost much to film, maybe attracted people because of the actor.
Sorry about the title on the other one. I notice that M. Night Shyamalan was involved in the whole thing and he makes freaky scary movies...lol

Hi PDB,
I also saw the movie "Buried." I was intrigued because the actor is one my favorite and I think it would be great. After a few minutes, I realized that the whole setting is to take place inside a buried coffin and I lose interest in it. I had to switch to another movie with more panoramic shots and varied settings. However I plan to go back to it in the future when I run out of movie to see.
It is really an interesting movie, however, I had to put it on the shelf for the meantime. The other one, I haven't seen yet.

I like the actor too but the whole movie took place in the coffin. I kept getting upset that he was wasting his cell minutes making phone calls to people he didn't know. He wasted the battery on doing things that I don't think I would have done. Anyhow the last five minutes made me think about life. That was the only good part.
