I just read an article in todays newspaper about a 103 year old woman who has filed for a petition to be buried alive...
Apparently, her son and his wife have taken over her property and thrown her out of the house. Her daughter was taking care of her, but she too is being harassed by the son for being nice to the mother.
Fed up of the trauma she and her daughter have to go through, the woman has filed for a petition to be buried alive.
When I think about it, I fail to understand how can people be so irresponsible to their parents at a stage when they need them the most?? And why would this woman want to be buried alive? Is this the solution to the spineless child's ill-behaviour?

This is a very strange request, and an odd sort of situation. Personally, I'm not sure what made the son and his wife to take over this woman's property. I can understand that this woman and her daughter are tired of the harassment. However, I'm not sure I understand why she wants to be buried alive. This doesn't seem to make much sense to me at all. I do respect this decision and the fact that she wants to do it, but I'm not sure I understand.

Thanks for the response.
That's exactly the reason why I posted this here. I too fail to understand the logic behind asking to be buried alive. If it was a petition for permission to end her life, I'd understand. But why buried alive??

I understand why, or just maybe. This mother have a reason to do this: She wants to somehow show her son true face to the whole world to know, so, first she must be popular, she must die in a special way that noone has done before, and sign the paper to become much more popular.
But somehow, I pity this poor woman. Chase a way by her own son. Where is his filiality anyway?

Sorry, it should be filial piety, cause I am not very good at English :)). You know, this man has lost his humanity.
But this is not one case. In my country, there are many cases when son, daughter steal their parents' property

Hi francis_ferns, firstly welcome to myLot.
This sounds odd that a woman who has loved so many years would be treated this way by her child, do they not realize she may not live 10 - 20 more years. Secondly instead of her petitioning the court to be buried alive, which I find obscene that any court will agree to, is that she needs to file a petition to be let back into her own home.
Wondering if she absolutely has no other family who can help her at her time of need. Sometimes I feel I have heard it all and then a new story out weighs.
Thanks for sharing and welcome aboard.

Thanks hardworkinggurl,
exactly the reason I shared this article here... I fail to understand, why would one want to be buried alive? If u are going to a court for help, u might as well fight for ur property and ur right to live rather than ask for something so strange...
Thanks for the response!

Exactly! That is so pointless. Instead of that then might as well seek help from the government for protection and how to get back her own assets and properties. I bet the court will have the same notion towrds this. And I don't think anyone who's sane would approve such petition.

I can't even imagine anyone actually allowing such a petition, but then so many people do crazier things. I would love to see the son go to court and allow his mother to continue, such a shame that a mother raise her child and to a sense this is how she is repaid.

Hi Francis,
This is how some people pay their parents' hard work for them.
I believe that we are here to take care of our parents as they grow old.
Like how much they've taken good care of us.
This is another sad story of a family.
I really feel bad about this kind of situation. :(
I hope everything works out well for them.

Completely agree that what goes around comes around, and that she doesn't deserve to be treated that way. but the point here is that, dont u think the lady must be insane to file a petition to be buried alive? Why not just approach the court and file for her property being given back to her??
There are so many people today who face similar situations, but I can't digest the fact that you give up ur life for such an act... One should stand up for their rights rather than take the other way out which is morally incorrect!
Thanks for ur response though!

Too bad it has to end this way. I pity the mother for what was happening to her. But it is possible that there is more to this story. Maybe the mother had done something before that caused too much hatred from his other families. I hope they can settle this before she rest.

Thanks for the response.
Yes, maybe there is a different side to the story... But do u think any act in this world justifies you to be so cruel to ur parents at an age where they need u the most?? Would u not be happy that your mother has lived a 103 years?? And maybe, she has a few more years left, so why not provide her with basics and the love so that she'd rest peacefully...
I feel, even if the mother has done something in the past, nothing justifies this kinda behaviour to ur old parents....

This is horrible, I do pity the mother but can't she just go to a place where the people can take care of her? What country is this in?

How sad that it came to this. I feel she is seeking revenge. She is trying to show the world how her son is treating her so he will be humiliated and embarrased. I don't think any court would allow this, but it sure does show everyone what kind of a person her son is.

I can't believe that thing like this happens. In our place, we have a tradition to take care of our old parents. We have this extended kind of family that old parents live with married children and be taken care of by them. It's so sad children like them in the news exist. They will become old, too and hope they will not meet same fate in the hands of their very own children!

That son is s+upld!! That is her mother, not just anyone else. I have heard many cases like this. I feel so depressed and lonely for knowing such disgraceful situations. I will share you a story of an old woman I met in a Home for the Aged welfare.
She was once rich and had lots of properties, houses and lots. Her only son was living in the United states that time. The old woman always wanted to be with her family.
One day, the son called her, inviting her to live with him together in the U.S. He also told her to sell all their properties and houses. The mother did what his son told her. She sold her properties one by one immediately.
The mother called the son again after two months I think. She said that she already sold everything. Then the son said to his mother to ready herself and he will fetch her a week after.
Then, on their departure day, her son showed her a renewed passport. In the airport, they were already had taken all their baggages to the baggage area for inspection.
They are just waiting for the plane to arrive. After a few minutes, the son said that he will just go to the Comfort Room. After more than an hour, the son did not came back. Leaving her mother there with a tag on her saying "Please Take This Poor Old Woman to A Welfare"
The son took everything. He also took all the money. Everything were fake. Fake password, fake tickets for her, and fake PROMISE!!
That son was very mean, I would have klll him once I saw him. LOL

103 years old still alive???!!! and filed a petition to buries alive???!!! Is it really happened??? If so, poor 103 year old, her son and daughter-in-law thrown her away!!! I'm sure she filed that petition to buried her alive because she no longer feels the importance and belongingness after all her property took over by her NO CONSCIENCE son and daughter. How dear they are!!! for me, its better she filed petition to buried alive HER SON and DAUGHTER-IN-LAW not her to buried alive! Better I'm not a relative of this old woman lol!!! Its really very sad. Its a big question WHY there are some kind of people like them? Are they not develop as person? or maybe they develop as animal.

First of all, I feel quite sorry about the old woman, and I'm sure the son deserves the severest criticism. But why doesn't she ask the goverment or social groups for help? If she could only rely on her children, for there're not any social welfare to take care of the elders, I think the goverment should be critisized, either.

This is really horrible on the part of the mother, I mean she raised her children and what did she get in return, I feel sorry for her. Her children should be the ones to be buried alive.just kidding. I mean for how they treat their mother they do deserve to be treated unfairly. I just hope that they will soon realize how important their mother is and that they should also think why their mother is going through such decision. The old woman is really nice and I think the reason why she is doing this because she feels that she is a burden to her family and which is really sad on her part because her children are very ungreatful.

There are a lot of stories said that old parents being badly treated by their children. It is a real problem we have to face to. But I can't just understand why children can treat their parents in that way? Don't they realize that when they are young, how their parent raise them up by love. How can they throw their parents out of the house? I have seen a story that shows that there is a dad taking care of his old mother, his mother has a disorder of urinary and she just can not help herself about it. So, that man says to his mother if she pee in the wrong place again, he will sent her to the sanatorium. At this time, the son of that man heard of this. That young boy directly says to this man "if you pee in the wrong place when you get old, I will sent you to the sanatorium too." Suddenly, that man realized something. From this story, do you learn something?
