I believe that staring at people is not the right word for me, more like observing them. I study people behavior, i'm very curios about how they act, their mimics and gestures, facial expressions and choice of words, when i'm close enough to hear. Usually i do it with people engaged in a conversation or very concentrated in their thoughts. I don't like to embarrass anyone, but sometimes i pretend that i'm a fly, that nobody can see me back and i loose myself in the act of observation. I found many interesting things about people behavior this way, and my readings on the body language of the persons i come in contact became very good.
So, yeah, it's better if they don't see you, but i believe observing people to be very useful.

There are many reasons why we stare at people. I stare at people if I'm interested with that person or something caught my attention to him/her. But I'd rather say it's rude. I'll only stare at people if they stare back at me, that means they are also interested in me and that could mean new friends. It also depends on the way you stare at them. Just be aware because you might look like being a stalker.

I am definitely guilty of this one.
Well, I sometimes stare at people mainly because they look familiar to me. I have this photographic memory of some sort. I tend to remember strangers' faces all the time and when I bump into them, I stare. People say staring is rude but I don't think it is when you're just staring and not ogling. Those are completely different things. Some find staring rude when you're actually drooling or making creepy faces while staring for too long. If ever someone stared at me like that, I would surely throw a fit.
Staring may be generally rude but as long as you don't physically hurt or emotionally traumatize anyone, I guess it's legal. :)

I don't think the word staring is the appropriate word if you're looking at the person cause you think he's cute. It's more like you're looking in admiration haha and i always to that with to the pretty girls but i try not to be too obvious and i glance at her from time to time. If not it's just weird

Rude as it may seem, I sometimes stare at people. Sometimes it is even an uncontrolled gesture.
I usually stare when I find something amusing, fascinating, admirable, or just plain funny about a person. I try not to stare too long though as I might get a good slapping. lol

Hello to you! Well i guess is normal, that we all stare at other people, in most of the time we do it unintentionally. Maybe we know that person from somewhere, and staring at that person helps us remind from where we know that person. Maybe we start at the person because he or she is staring at us and maybe we want to know the reason for that. And if we stare at the person because is cute, well here we all know the reason.:)

Well, I stared at people if something is peculiar in his face, his looks or his aura. I stare at people who;s not behaving well and right (as if saying hey, you're acting rude)I stare at people when I'm thinking deeply and his face is my point of return into reality!

I try not to stare at people but sometimes there are just some people that I cannot take my eyes from. Specially those good looking people that you just so admire. I don’t really stare at them but I always give a glance every 2 seconds so as not to become too obvious.
To some people, starting could be an act of rudeness. Since you will be making people uncomfortable with your scrutiny. People think that they are sort of a lens in a microscope when they are being stared at.

Well staring as a manner is rather mmmmm... missunderstood in the curent world.
Some say it is impolite to stare. They are partialy right, but as a fully functionable human beeing you have the right to do so! If you haven't noticed (or maybe I did'nt) that staring is often hard to control as it happens unnexpecetdly.Lets call staring a brain reaction to the outside world, you try to look and remember the object you are looking at by getting a closer look, or I myself sometimes get carried away and imagine what could happen to the object that I'm looking at, and I usualy do it too long so I do not notice how a simple glimpse turns into a longer look.
In coclusion don't be afraid to look becouse that what for you got eyes.

Yes i do stare at people sometimes. My attention is mostly caught when someone is goodlooking or the opposite of it. If someone is doing something funny, something wrong or anything that is attention catchy, i would also stare. If the person stares back at me, i would look away, staring is not bad - if the person doesn't know you're staring ;)

hi there.
probably i stare at a person with the same reasons as yours. but i do not want to get caught staring at them because they might think too much of it. sometimes when people gets caught somebody staring at them, they thought he/she is interested of them though it's actually the opposite. LOL. yeah the previous responders are quite right, it's because it's just rude to stare at somebody for a long time. one exception for me is when a person looked familiar to me, i tend to look at him or her for a long time. just to examine the person if i really knew him/her. see you around!
