Last year was the year of the netbook. In 2011, they say that it is going to be the year of the tablet pcs. Will you purchase a tablet pc when they become available at attractive prices? Or will you continue to use your big and bulky laptop and hinged netbook? Do you think tablet pcs will replace the netbook in terms of portability?

Hi there!
I acquired my first laptop this year but I soon sold it back to the collegue who it had belonged to. It was too heavyand not as convenient when travelling as I had expected.
I then got a netbook, again second-hand from a friend who had two. This one is brand new and I have been using it for over three months and it suits me fine!
I don't like the tablets. I have never liked touch screens and that is the first thing that puts me off. I don't think they feel 'solid' enough and I am not in a hurry to have one at all. I have my desktop at home and I well-equipped now without yet another.

Hi! So good to see you again.
We were content with our 15" laptop until we were gifted with a brand new netbook which proved to be more convenient to bring on trips.
About 2 months ago, our netbook refused to boot up and we have not yet decided if we are still going to have it repaired or not. We were afraid that it would cost more to have it repaired. Prices of older models usually drop when newer gadgets come out so might be cheaper to get a new one, that is if we still need one.
Lately, I use my desktop pcs more often so if laptops can feel mine's probably beginnng to feel lonely already because I have not touched it for about a month now.

I don't have a choice. My eyesight is only good for a PC or a pretty big laptop! Also, I have absolutely no need to carry a computer around with me. It seems to me that if you absolutely must have your email delivered instantaneously in the bathroom, a mobile phone will do the job. The tablet types are just a passing phase to me, too small yet not small enough! Now if they make one the size of a 21" monitor, I might just get interested.

These portable pcs indeed are for those with good eyesight. We used to own a netbook too and I do find it very difficult to surf with it. I prefer to have a big screen too, that is why I do most of my work on a desktop at home or at the office. I am seldom on the go, too, so I do not think I will have a need for a tablet pc. And yes, tablets may also go the way of the netbook, just a fad that will be replaced by new (not necessarily better) gadgets.

It depends,if the tablet pcs can match the specification of a laptop then maybe. For me,if the developers of tablet pcs could enhance the functions of it while maintaining the poratability, then there's a possibility..
