With cricket all over the world, except for 2 O.D.I. matches between Australia and England, coming to a halt, perhaps a calm before a big storm, the whole cricketing world is gearing up for a big spectacle I.C.C. Cricket World cup 2011 to be co hosted by India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. The opening ceremony to be held in Bangladesh on 17th of February and the first match between 2 co hosts, India and Bangladesh on 19th Feb. in Bangladesh. The entire cricket world, nay the entire sporting world is eagerly waiting for the spectacle to begin. The cricket crazy countries like India, SriLanka, Bangladesh the pitch is feverish. Every where you will find people talking about only cricket nothing else. The spectacle is to last for over a month with final slated for 2nd April on newly renovated Wankhede stadium Mumbai. A total of 14 teams with 8 members and 6 associate members divided into 2 groups would be competing in the tournament. The two main groups are:
Group A Group B
Australia Bangladesh
Canada England
Kenya India
New Zealand Ireland
Pakistan Netherlands
Sri Lanka South Africa
Zimbabwe West Indies
The first round will be on round robin bases with each team in a group will be playing against the other team in the same group. The fist 4 teams will qualify for quarter final stage which will held from 23rd March to 26th March on knockout basis.
The final will be held on 2nd of April.
Barring the big upset the competition in the preliminary round to qualify for the quarterfinal will be mainly within member countries. In group A the competition will be between Australia, Sri Lanka, New Zealand and Pakistan and group B it will be between England, India, South Africa and West Indies. Australia and Sri Lanka in group A and England and India in group B will make it to second round, I fill. Do you agree? If not which teams you fill are going to make it to quarter finals?

Yes , the excitement has begun. Every world cup has had its share of upsets. I am expecting a few in this tournament too.
Something tells me that England might have an early exit.
The massive crowds in India are sure to add spice in every match. I am certainly looking forward to towering sixes, toe crushing yorkers & nail biting finishes !

Nice description of cricket fever Srijshm but your assessment of English team doesn't
digest well with me nor with the die hard English fans particularly their press.if you see the english press particularly after their triumph in ashes series they are just short of declaring themselves as the world cup winners.
