I believe women have always been serious about their careers...it is just that they also had to be serious about their children and families in a way more than the husband/father did. "She" wasn't allowed to put all her attention to her career like "he" is. But these days... I honestly think that because women are paid less than a man for the same job, that with the economy the way it is, companys are more willing to hire a woman because they will work for less pay at a lower wage/salary, as opposed to a man, so they are willing to take the "Risk" of hiring a woman! But these "positive thinkers" and media are making it sound like as you say...that it is the women who are serious about their careers more so than men. Women have always been as much or more serious as men....they just were never given the opportunity the men were! Now...since it is "how much you will work for" being the deciding factor to an employer, and women are not only willing, but to them at least acceptable as they have children to feed, they take the lower pay. Men won't do that!

I guess it depends on how often they shop. I don't think shopping is a 'waste of time' unless you have a better way to be spending your time. A lot of us don't. I like shopping and almost always buy soemthing when I go shopping - making it a useful/productive experience for me.

A person can spend their free time shopping and still be serious about their career. That is probably where they get the money to shop. Gender doesn't determine your goals or priorities in life, nor does it determine your hobbies.

hi there. i got a girlfriend, and whenever we're in a mall, she always spend a lot of time choosing where or what to shop. i don't think they're wasting their time for shopping if they are just assigning a free day to spend it only for shopping or doing what they want. everybody's got their rest days of course when it comes to work. it's just all about time management and proper setting of schedule to avoid wasting of time and not accomplishing what should be done at the right time. so i don't think "shopping" has something to affect one's work. this is just my own opinion, because i see this with my girl. see you around!

Well, I love to shop, but I wouldn't say I waste time at it. The more time I take shopping, the less money I waste, and the more time I have to think about whether or not I should actually buy whatever it is I'm looking at. I can't really agree with women wasting their time shopping because I don't know that many women who do that much shopping. The only issue I would see in shopping is when people waste their MONEY excessively shopping for things that they don't need. But I mean, I like to shop in general... food, clothes, everything. It's not about women working vs shopping, it's just something we like to do an are good at.

Shopping is one of my passions. It certainly would not be considered a waste of time to me. I may be in a depressed or sad mood. If i go shopping for a while, it can quickly turn my mood around. I don't always have to buy something when I am shopping. It is the experience that does it for me.
