Chicago is the city where I first fell in love with pizza. There is a very famous restaurant called Gino's East in Chicago where I would always go for pizza with my dad. The pizza is deep dish style and our particular favorite comes with a whole sausage pattie under the cheese - to die for!
I recently visited New York for the first time and thought I'd try the pizza that is supposed to rival Chicago's style. I went to a well-known restaurant called Luigi's and had their pizza, which was quite good, but nothing compared to the pizza at Gino's East in Chicago.
I vote Chicago having the best pizza in the nation. I would be eager to find out, though, is there any delicious pizza beyond Chicago and New York?

Thank you very much for the information. I will visit the shop the next time I get to Chicago. I am very much a pizza addict. I go to pizza shops here in the city atleast two or three times a week. There are very good shops here too. But, I don't know how they compare with the shop in Chicago you mentioned.

Personally when it comes to Pizza, I honestly think Chicago does deserve the prize especially for some of the Best pan pizza there is. I know that overall Chicago knows how to do Pizza, and other Italian food and one of the best things a person could have. I think there is no competition left in this category, and for anyone who has never been there, this is a Great thing to try there for sure.

I've eaten some Chicago-style pizza here in my country (the Philippines). As far as the taste and texture goes, I prefer Chicago-style more than New York-style pizza. The dough is better, the toppings are more varied, and I just love that deep-dish goodness.
How I wish I can go to Chicago to try out the real thing!

When I was younger me and my dad would go to Aurelios, one of our favorite Chicago pizza places. There was also Rosati's too that we would go to. But since I moved to North Carolina I would have to go back up to Chicago maybe every two years to get some amazing pizza. Found out about two months ago that we have a Rosati's down here! It's not Aurelios but it is Chicago pizza!

I've actually never been to Chicago, and have never actually tried pizza from there. Doing it is actually on my list of "things to do before I die." I have tried "Chicago-style" pizza before, deep dish and all that, but I feel like there would be something special about actually getting it from an authentic place there. From the responses to this thread, it sounds like it really is a must!
