This is a collection of 4 of King's novellas; "The Langoliers" "Secret Window, Secret Garden" "The Library Policeman" and "The Sun Dog." I am only on the first story, Langoliers, right now...but it is so good! By page 15 i thought I was going to stroke from the suspense and fear! lol. I love a book that can really get to me like that!! I can't wait for the other stories! Anyone read any of them before??

I am a big Stephen King fan but I have never read that collection but I plan to. I have seen the movie of Secret Window with Johnny Depp and is was great, he really knows how to play a guy that is nuts. The Langoliers was not that good but then many of Kings works do not translate well to screen, so defiantly something for me to read.

I'm trying to get a copy of the Langoliers movie, but can't find it! I agree that most of his movies are nothing compared to the books, but I still like to see the movies after I read the book, I like to compare. After reading Secret Window, Secret Garden and then seeing Secret Window, I was hugely disappointed. The ending of the movie is different from the book, and I much preferred the books ending. It seemed more...right...for Stephen King. If you liked the movie I think you'll really enjoy the book. What are some of your favorite Stephen King stories? Any recommendations? Have you read Rose Madder or The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon? Those are a couple of my favorites.

The Langoleirs is a really low budget TV film but worth a watch if you are are a fan. I must read it now as I loved the movie but I have Depp in my head as the character of Mort lol. I have read a lot of Kings early stuff not so much of his new stuff, its hard to keep up. I have read Rose Madder a few years back, her husband! what a .... well you know. I wold say my favorite books of his would be IT and the short story collection, Skeleton Crew.

It seems like a lot of King movies are low budget. But I saw that David Morse is in the Langoliers and I really like him. You can still picture Depp as mort, that won't ruin the book for you! He works as mort! lol I LOVED Rose Madder. Yeah her husband was BAD! What a creepy character! If you were to read a new King novel, I would definitely recommend Under The Dome. It is super long (1,000 pages) but I loved every minute of it. The ending was a little, unsatisfying but it still didn't take away from the story. His new book, Cell, isn't really worth the read. It wasn't BAD, but if you don't read it you won't really be missing anything. I'm not sure I would be able to handle IT...I tried watching the movie and I had to turn it off before I finished it, it was really disturbing for me. i turned it off during the Chinese restaurant scene with the fortune cookies. When the baby bird came out of one of the cookies, oh I was done! lol I do own Skeleton Crew, haven't read it yet, but I will! Glad to know you liked it.

Hehe yeah, I know now the way I spaced it may have been confusing, but I tried to make it clear! I failed I guess lol. I have not read Firestarter, not sure I have any interest in it. Is it any good?

Yes I read this book and I think I like the Langoliers and The secret window, secret garden story most. The 2nd one was made into a movie that I like the version of too. I have read many of his books as I love his work very much and in fact good have been influenced in writing style by him, not in mylot particularly. I have stopped reading though but I still plan to continue some time, but no longer in paperbacks, just e-books. I hope you have fun reading!

Yeah I am a huge fan of kings!! I think he is really talented, and he is really good at scaring me!!! I finished Langoliers, I really liked it. And I'm on Secret Window/Garden right now, and I'm enjoying it well enough so far. Both of those were made into a movie. I saw Secret Window, I don't really remember it. I really want to see The Langoliers, if I can get my hands on a dvd of it! Thanks!

I am enjoying the book still. I am almost done with Secret Window Secret Garden and will be moving on to The Library Policeman soon! :) I knew their was a Langoliers movie, but before reading the story I was never really interested in seeing it. Now I really really want to see it but don't know how I'll get my hands on it since it is not available through netflix! lol Thanks!

I happen to read all four novels. And if my memory is correct, Secret Window and Secret Garden was made into a movie,I remember Jim Carey being the main lead in that movie. My favorite among the four novels is The Library Policeman. A little bit of romance is incorporated in the movie. The Langoliers is also a very entertaining novel. The plot is very original and very exciting.

I really enjoyed The Langoliers, and now I hope I can get a copy of the movie somehow. I really want to see it! I am almost done with Secret Window, Secret Garden. The Library Policeman is next. Jim Carey wasn't the lead in Secret Window, it was the more sexy Johnny Depp. :)

I'm one of Stephen King's "constant readers" and I've got a copy of this novella collection. It's a tattered second-hand novel I bought for roughly a dollar. My personal favorite is "The Langoliers" and I even watched the TV movie based on it. I also watched the 2004 movie "Secret Window" starring Johnny Depp based on the second novella, "Secret Window, Secret Garden". It didn't do justice to the story though, I believe the book had more gruesome details and it wasn't really shown in the movie (though Johnny Depp is still the best one to play Mort Rainey). "Library Policeman" is just OK though I must warn you, it's the most intense and graphic one among the four. I didn't really care that much for "The Sun Dog". This is one good read and it should keep you up all night. If you enjoyed this, I recommend you also get "Different Seasons", it's also a 4-novella collection but it's even more brilliant than this one.

I just finished The Langoliers (literally) and will try to get the movie (I just checked on my Netflix and it's not available right now!! ) I did see Secret Window, didn't really care for it. But I also don't remember it much, so it won't take away from my reading of "Secret Window Secret Garden." Esk, you made me kind of nervous about the Library Policeman! lol. Is it really scary, or just graphic? I heard of Different Seasons (had to get it for Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption for my class) but my teacher said Shawshank is the only good story from it. She said the others ones kind of sucked...I guess you disagree! Maybe i'll have to look into it! Thanks!!!

^ My favorite novella from Different Seasons was "The Body", it's the story where the movie Stand By Me was based on.

Yeah my teacher said Shawshank was probably the best, but The Body was okay too. I saw the movie Stand By Me, I don't really remember it though lol

I saw the movie "The Langoliers" first before I read the story. I loved the movie so much that I hunted down a copy of Four Past Midnight for my own collection. I read it a few years ago so I can only remember a few details about the stories. I remember not liking Secret Window, Secret Garden much because it's not plot based, and I got mad at the main character for acting stupid sometimes (like, "why are you not doing this?"). Library Policeman... forgot what it is about. The Sun Dog I think was about a kid who got a Polaroid camera that was acting weird. I am scared of dogs so it's a creepy story for me.

I'm doing the opposite of you! I just finished reading The Langoliers, and now I really want to watch the movie (but it's not available on Netflix!!! Boo!!) I don't remember liking the movie Secret Window, I'm on that novella now. It's okay, but I'm with you, I would have done things way different then he has so far! Thanks!!

Yes, Stephen King is a great author! I should acknowledge this althoug I don't like this kind of suspense. He is an excellent psychologist and great master of the words. But he was the favourite author of my daughter when she was a little kid and I was embarrassed, it was strange to me.

He was your daughter's favorite author when she was little???? How little lol I like a ton of his stories. I will admit there are some I pretty much hated (with me it's usually either you love or hate one of his stories) but I go love most of them. I wish I was as talented as him!!!
