Do you freeze food?

What are your views about freezing food? Like if you buy a lot of meat, you aren't going to use it by the expiration date, do you freeze it? Same goes with chicken, fish, etc.

We freeze meat, fish, chicken and the likes. We do buy our meats every Sunday only. So we really have to freeze those which will not be consumed to prolong it. Also if we have some cooked food that easily rots/spoils especially during summer, we put them all in the freezer then re-heat.

I freeze alot of meat & other things. I usually buy in bulk because it's hard on me going to the store & getting them in the house. It's usually cheaper to buy big packages of meat so when i get home w/them i split it up & put in freezer bags. I also put frsh veggies in the frezer when they are in seasom.

I do buy things and freeze them very often. Sometimes I buy stuff to freeze ahead of time so I will have it for when I need it. I freeze heavy whipping cream into 1/4 c cubes. I buy red peppers and chop them up and freeze them. I do the same thing with onions. A lot times I buy food frozen to keep in my big freezer for when I want that ingredient. Such as today I bought a big bag of frozen blueberries for when I want to make pies and muffins.

Yes I do. When I purchase packages of meat, I put the meat into the ziplock bag and then I put them into the freezer so they don't go bad.

I freeze a lot of food. My freezer is one of those giant chest freezer models. I freeze what comes out of the garden, for winter use. I buy bulk, when I can, in meats and other freezeable foodstuffs. It's a lot cheaper to buy it in season, when it's cheaper, and enjoy it in the winter. I just had some of my asperagus from last spring, if I bought it at the store right now it'd be expensive! I make extra casseroles and freeze them for later use when I don't have time to cook. Most things purchased from the store have wrappings that are not 'freezer-burn proof', so I re-package them and they last a whole lot longer than if left in their original wrap from the store. I also have one of those Seal-A-Meal thingies, and for some stuff that will be in the freezer longer it's worth it to use. Side note about the meats and chickens, if you are freezing them, the expiration date on the package no longer applies, that's for when it's fresh and going to be used soon. Also, the freezer in the refrigerator is not as good as the stand-alone ones because they're always getting opened, and don't stay as cold as they should.

Actually we eat only chicken in non- veg category but that too not more than 2-3 times in a month. We eat quite less chicken so my mom buys less.Just enough for two times. But my mom freezes peas a lot.She prefer to to buy peas, shell them herself then freeze them rather than buy frozen peas from market.Only my mother likes fish so she buy just enough for her and never freeze the left over, instead feeds it to dogs.

I always buy meat and chicken for a week's consumption so definitely I have to freeze them the moment I get home from the supermarket and take them out and thaw before cooking. But I don't freeze fish because I want to cook fish that are fresh only, so if ever I get to buy fish one day, I have to cook it when I get home. Fish taste better when they are cooked fresh.

hi, i do freezing foods to preserve it, and avoid to have bad smell of meats and fish, i actually dont buy bounty chicken and fish because they are the most faster to rupture. even those green leaf vegetables.

My family freezes loads of food, meat or soups or even bread. My granny also used to freeze milk sometimes... Also at work they make food in bulk then freeze it, then when a customer orders it they can just defrost it :)

My mom does it all the time. Since she always buys alot of meat extending the expiration date sounds like a fine idea.
