The nominees for the Oscars were release on Jan 25th. I was happy to see both Black Swan and Inception got nominated for best picture. Some of the other nominees were ones I expected like Social Network, True Grit and the Fighter. I was amused to see Toy Story 3 in the best picture nominees as well. Do you care about the Oscars? I go every year to the AMC best picture showcase and watch all 10 movies over 2 Saturdays so I will have seen all the best picture nominees before the Oscars. I will actually be watching the Oscars and will care about who wins. Were there any movies you think should have been nominated? Do you watch the Oscars? Will you watch this year?

I won't be able to watch the Oscars live, but I want to see the ceremony and I do care about who wins.Black Swan is my number one, but if I had to pick another movie, Inception or True Grit would be my choice. The Oscar categories that I'm interested in are Best Picture, Best Director,Best Actor and Best Music. And best actress, of course.Want to see Natalie winning.

me neither but I love to see who gets nominated and then goes on to win, some years it can be quite surprising like The Hurt Locker winning out over Avatar - was that last year? lol - time goes by so fast..
I enjoyed Inception though it took a lot of concentration and I haven't seen Black Swan yet though majority of people are positive about it so I think it will do well.
I hope that The Kings Speech does well too - they have lots of nominations and it has some great performances.

That was last year, and I saw all the best picture nominees and Hurt Locker deserved it so much more than Avatar. All Avatar had going for it was the new technology. The story line was so bad, it was just a retelling of Pocahontas or Dances with Wolves. They should have spent more time developing it as they were developing the technology. I will be able to watch them live and I usually do sit down and watch the whole thing. Black Swan was a really good film and I hope it wins, but I am afraid they will give everything to the King's Speech.

I will watch how the nominations turn out at the awards. I think the nominations reflect the diversity of movie - making in the industry today. Personally I am vying for Inception to win best picture.

This year I am not feeling like caring about the Oscars. I guess I missed a lot of the nominated movies and so cannot form an opinion, though I think out of the Best picture nominees the Facebook movie should take it. Maybe one day I will win an Oscar and then care more. I did enjoy the Golden Globes.

Some people don't care all that much about the Oscars. In fact, I actually find very few people who do and I live in the Los Angeles area where all the movie people live! I am not a fan of the Golden Globes and I never watch them. The Social Network was a good film but I think I would still prefer for Black Swan to win.

I agree with your choices, though I haven't watched Black Swan. I really love Inception and Social Network. I will definitely watch the Oscars this year.

What movie is you rooting for? I am upset Christopher Nolan snubbed for Inception. He got snubbed two years ago for The Dark Knight and now he is largely ignored again. It seems Academy hates him for some reason. I like this year's nominees because I feel it has greater quality than last year's. Last year I don't like The Hurt Locker that much, but this year I really enjoy Toy Story, Inception, and Social Network. I haven't seen Black Swan and King's Speech since it has not released in my country yet, probably next month when it close to the ceremony. Hope it's that good:)

I don't think they are snubbing Christopher Nolan per se, and he is a good director and I love his stuff and hope to see many many more films by him. Its just that action films and Sci-fi films are almost never nominated and if they are nominated they never win. There are very few exceptions like Lord of the Rings. I do think the movies were better this year, there are three or four that legitimately deserve to win. I would be glad for either Black Swan or Inception to win best picture.
