i already have the new facebook mail feature and i love it. facebook is giving you your own email address with username@facebook.com. the username is equal to the one you set as your facebook.com/username address. this is for uniformity. i personally love it as you now have your emails and social facebook messages in one place. plus, the chat is now automatically converted to mails. so if you enter something in chat, it will be handled as a social inbox message as well and appear there as well including the entire previous dialogs. new is also that all messages / conversations with one other character is being put together into one thread. this makes it much easier to organize stuff. further, you can choose to send your fb message as a regular inbox message or a text message (SMS), normal text message charges apply for the mobile phone user. i love the new facebook messages and i can recommend it highly.

I haven't heard about this before, but it sounds like a great idea! I hope they do it!

I've heard of this way before but all I know is they're providing more like a messaging system than an e-mail, I'm not sure. The address only looks like an e-mail address like joe@facebook.com, something like this.
