Today is a bad day.My 3rd year 2nd semester repeat results were out.I have failed one out of four for the first time in my college life.My friend whom i taught that subject has gone through.I went and spoke to my lecturer and he told that you are short of three marks. This is my final year.I have to again write with with 3rd year students.I m really shy because i failed.I was a bright student so far in the school as well. But now im off track. All my other friends are doing well than me.But im lost in my studies since i came to this college.I want bounce back.
If any one have similar experience share with me.please.I want to know im not alone

Dude, which college is it?
When I read the heading, I thought it will be some 1st semested boy from any engineering college. I was amazed to know that a final year student has so much problem with the result.
I don't know how students of your college think, however, I am sure, anyone will feel it's really strange to hear words like this from a final year student.
I was a topper of my class, never missed any internal exam in my college but I didn't attend one of my final semester exam.
In India, after completing the first year itself, most of the students come to know that getting more marks and being a topper of your class does not mean anything.
In final year, students are more concerned about their jobs and not these exam results.
I see that you have mentioned of "Shame", really confusing, didn't your seniors teach you the lessons of no shame in your first semester before fresher's party?
My suggestion would be, be strong, this professional world is much complex and tougher than your college, if you react like this for a semester result, how will you deal with bigger problems of your life?
It's been four years since I have completed my engineering, I am working for a MNC, everything that I dreamed of as a student. My degree is still waiting for me in my college, I don't have time to go there and collect it.
I hope this will help you to understand the value of passing or failing a semester exam. "Please" don't behave like a child. All the best !!!

nice advice! :D I love it! Well, i can't blame him for that. I admit, we're both the same. I'm at the top of my class as well right now and I don't want to fail and get embarrassed in front of them. I don't know but I reckon, this is how we handle this kind of problem..tough it is!

I don't know, may be in last 3-4 years things have changed and students are really concerned about getting good marks. It's good for you people, however, make sure that you don't get frustrated or feel dejected if something goes wrong.
In most of the cases, if someone is good in academics and have good knowledge, will certainly try to be in the industry rather than teaching in any of the colleges.
That means, most of the faculties in these colleges don't have that good academic record or the actual knowledge. They somehow manage to do the job and get the salary. After completing the course a few of my friends are in teaching line. When we discuss about the copy checking (checking the semester answer sheets), I feel, I am lucky that I could complete the course in 4 years.
Nobody reads what you have written in the answer sheet, its your luck, faculty's mood and your handwriting and a few other things.
I know a student (my classmate) who had got 881 marks in a 100 marks paper. Would you believe it???
It's a case of a well known university with more than 200 colleges. There are so many things like this, that's why, I would say, don't worry, try your best to complete the course on time and get in to the industry as soon as possible.

First of all, forget what your friends might say or do. They are not the ones getting you through college - you are.
Buckle down and study. When you study, do it for no longer than 15 minutes. Take a five minute break, study 15, break 5, study 15, etc. It's been proven that after fifteen minutes you brain simply slows down on absorbing information. It needs a break, just like you do when you are physically tired. That five minutes gives it a chance to file what you've already studied and opened the way for more information.
So what if you are studying with 3rd year students? If you pass and get your college degree, will it matter five years from then? What will matter is that you did not give up, did not let friends, or third year jitters get in your way. That you persevered through everything because your education was of uppermost importance.
Stop feeling sorry for yourself. Get over the shyness. It can be done because I did it. All it takes is going up to someone and introducing yourself. If you do that enough times, suddenly you will be able to talk with anyone about anything and ENJOY doing it. I kept waiting for everyone to realize I was shy. I waited for them to come to me. It ain't gonna happen. They have other people and things in their lives. You have to start the ball rolling by forcing yourself to speak in class, talk to others at breaks, get to know dorm and class members.
When you offer them something - in this case, yourself and your knowledge - they will become a part of your world.

By the way, today is a great day. You woke up breathing, sitting, walking, talking, etc. These are all the things my husband wishes he could do. He would consider your life magnificent, so enjoy breathing. Enjoy sitting. Enjoy standing. Enjoy walking. Enjoy talking. Enjoy life.
When you get to my husband's relatively young age of 63 and find yourself in a wheelchair unable to walk, talk, move one arm, stand, or sit without help - THEN you can complain about a bad day.
But, you know the great part about my husband - he's got guts. He wakes up smiling, kisses me hello, struggles with his life lessons in how to remain breathing. He doesn't give up hope of walking or talking. But then, my husband has always been one h*ll of a man. I didn't expect something as small as a massive stroke that destroyed the whole left side of his brain to stop him and neither did he.

I did not face such a situation. But i still suggest that try to go for a revaluation. You could pass the exam.
However if that does not work, i would suggest you to not take the result to your heart and just go out there, write your exam and clear it this time. There is nothing to feel bad about.

Oh! We're the same! I'm at my 3rd year 2nd semester in College. And right now, I'm experiencing criticisms from others. But cheer up! I know you can still cope up with others. I've experienced that also and I was totally embarrassed. I don't even want to go to school again. But come to think of it, you have still a chance to prove to them that you can change for the better! Well, my best of luck for you! God bless.

hi,
i am sorry to here that you will fail your semester exam.Think its not a end of any thing ,but its a beginning for analysis and refresh your study.See ,you must keep some interest in your subjects you can easily win. When i will studding college i will hate some subject,my major is computer science.but now i need that thing and study it in interesting,so in can understand it easily. So every thing you will study in the college will be useful in the future. So keep it mind and study better for the next exam.
wish you all the best ...happy mylotting

I would suggest that you request for the opportunity to redeem yourself such as extra projects or other means to gain extra credit. Failing is not so bad so long as it does not stop your from trying. Teachers understand if you are having difficulties but you will have to tell them so that they can help you.

Hi, its very frustrating to fail an exam.......in highschool, yes, but in college i dont think so. When I was in college I got many failed exam result but I still pass the subjects because there are some factors that an instructor considers, example, if more than onehalf of the class fails, he then lowers the passing grade, another is if you always attend class then he can also consider that.... Instructor in college have considerations all you have to do is approach, let him know that you dont want to fail the subject..... Goodluck!!!!!

Keep Cool Buddy... Nothing is worry in this.Past is past let it be.
Just apply for revaluation you will get it.Since you are 3 marks back u will definitely get it.
Never loose your confidence it will pay way for failure.Be positive, confident then success is yours.
Don't compare yourself with others and don't weight easily others.

I am really sorry to hear what happened to you. And ya i am the best person to understand you because i failed during one of my semesters in my academic life. But you shouldnt give up here. You should now work harder for the subject you have failed in. First of all you should figure out the topics you felt hard to prepare during your exams. Contact your faculty to understand them and prepare them well now. Then you must prepare topics that you could easily prepare, it would be like a quick revision for you. This is what i did, and believe me i got good grades when i reappeared for the exam. Most students, after failing in a subject, leave the topics they find hard and hence they have a greater probability of failing again when they re appear for the same exam. I hope i was clear to you. Do well now. All the best. Comment back for more help.
