the reason why we do work so that we do have income and support the needs and provide our families. before the pay day were so excited because were about to get the salary, but sometimes what we earned is not enough for the needs. in short the salary we received is over dropped. in my case before the pay day, i will list all the payables and stuff and its always over dropped. thats why i do have sidelines always just cope up the extra expenses.
do you encounter this scenario also?

Most of us are all waiting for that payday because we need it. And I definitely agreed with you about the salary, what I received everypay day was almost overdraft and it's just covered for the payments of my bills. And this is one reason why I am here in Mylot to earn additional money while enjoying responding in any discussion here.

well those health care, Social security and for the Pag-Ibig funds are good for me because i am thinking it as my savings everyday. and i can use them in the future. but the thing is the salary itself is not enough because the demands are increasing but the salary is still the same.

Every day it gets more difficult to make ends meet. Sometimes I joke saying that is is not that things are more expensive but that my money has shrunk. In a way it is so. We earn the same, yet we have a lot more needs. I could not live easily now without things that just a few years ago were either luxuries or nonexistant. A connection to internet and a cellphone are two of them. So bills are higher now and we have to take the money away from another of our items. I buy less clothes, for instance. In fact, it seems tha I hardly buy anything to wear.
I pride myself of discovering how to eat well AND cheap. I had to learn and work on it.
I am now retired but my pension is not enough to cover all my expenses, the way I like to live. So I work online for my one luxury (vacations) and barter my knowledges (cooking) for other things my friends and family can give me instead.
I do not buy anything on credit and stick to what I can buy.

I cook EVERYTHING from scratch and hardly ever buy canned food. That is a great saving. I use all leftovers, something that is easy when living alone. My daughter, with kids, will put more rice or pasta in every plate so as to use all of it. I don´t because I can make an omelette for myself with 2 tablespoons of rice or some leftover pasta or potatoes.
Bought food is very expensive and many times bad for your health. I´m saving in gasoline now By using my car to get near the bus or metro stop and then use the metro. I have a friends at a walking distance from a metro station and she lets me park my car there.

You're not the only faced with this scenario. With prices of goods continuously going up and salaries not increasing, our hard-earned money becomes very very precious. And yes, just like you, I look for other ways to gain extra income. Now, I am so much into home-based or online income opportunities.

I used to dream to set up a business so that I won't be dependent on my salary. But every time I do so, it seems my family is so scared of what I can achieve that they will do anything to pull me down. First, it was my brother who had too much credit card bills and I had to help him out by paying for all the household expenses until he could get his finances straight. Then, when he got a good job, it was as if sick fate suddenly decided to give my mother cancer and I was the one assigned to take care of her.
I am not getting any younger and I don't want to be dependent on my salary. My salary has always been enough for my needs that I am able to save some every payday. But my time is tied and I want to travel and enjoy life while I still can.

Yaikkks. I sometimes think that it is better just to let the day pass without pay days, because when paydays come, it brings more headache for I have to think what to be paid and what to buy.
And yes, it always short of with our expenses and needs. Now what I'm doing is, I made an estimation of my next salary and manage the expenses. List down first the fixed expenses like bills, and next is to cut off something I think not so important. So when the pay days come, I'll just make sure to have the necessary needs and what has been left must be made enough for other things.

I hope I will never into that situation where my earning is not enough for my monthly expenses, of course pay day is the happiest day where I can have a day where I can feel rich for a moment. If one day my earning is not enough to support my expenses, I will definitely do something like part time job to earn more.

i share your sentiments. with the rising prices of commodities and of course the taxes that is to be deducted in our salary it is always not enough. and i think that is the reason most of us are in this forum to earn extra income. but still I am very thankful that Pay Day is coming because that means that I will have something to spend to pay for bills and other things that we need to survive our everyday life. As the saying goes, " if your blanket is short then learn to bend a little so you will fit" if it seems that our earnings is short then learn to minimize our expenses, look for cheaper items and look for additional opportunities to earn more.

I guess, employees always encounter that, specially when all their children are going to school. Sometimes, both your salary combined with your husband isn't enough, specially when it's tution time for the kids.
So in every way we can, we try to be thrifty and try to make both ends meet. What is important is that we can pay our important bills and be able to send our kids to school.
So it is a must that we live within our means.

Hi Carrine! I encountered this scenario a few years ago. I understand what you feel when you know your budget is short for your expenses.
I once earned a lot when I was working in a ship. I thought I had a lot but when I was here at home my expenses were too high. I had lots of things to buy for me, our house and my family. This I also experienced when I was working land based.
I have learned from this experience that no matter how big or small our salary is, the expenses is always the same. Well, there is an "if" here. If you don't know how to budget and save. Now, I am a stay at home mom and my husband is the only one working. I can say that I have budgeted our finances well and even have savings.

good thing that you still have some penny to save, in my case i really dont have. i only considered the savings in my health care funds, for housing funds, and for the retirement. which are the benefits we can get from the office, but it comes our salary that will automatically deducted every pay day.

Although I don't much in terms of 'sidelines', except if you call myLotting a sideline, I have experiences of trying to make ends meet in between paydays. I have a worksheet that I regularly update which tracks all my expenses. So, even before payday, or even before the money gets into the bank, I already have bills lined up to pay.

We all work, either to provide for ourselves or to provide for our families. Sometimes what we earn isn't enough and it can be a constant struggle keeping up with things when you are not earning as much money as you need to pay out. It is great when payday arrives but as soon as it does the money then is as good as gone as we have so many bills to pay. I always mionitor my money and bills well so that i am always on top of things, i do not like getting into debt, i try to let money build in some sites i am on so that if for any reason i am struggling for cash then i can always send off for my money from these sites, they do make a difference, they are great to have. It is a shame that either things aren't cheaper or that we were paid more for the work that we do. Sometimes it is great to have money built up elsewhere, just incase an emergency arises.

Even me which is a student also encountered that scenario. When my parents gave me my allowance for the whole week, there are times that there are so many requirements in the school, so i have no choice but to pay those fees and to buy all my requirements. Before the week ends, sometimes, my allowance was already low all i have to do is to borrow into my classmates and have a budget for the next week.

you really have to save from your allowance because you just dont know where your parents get the money for your allowance. you're lucky enough because you have parents who provided you that, in my time i work for my studies, thats too hard to do. and thats the thing also that i kept on telling to my sons now.

ohhhh.. I think most of the people have difficulties to get as much money as they have to or want to spend. I am in that position too. In former times I earned much more, but had to change my life because of an heart attack. Learned then that money is not all and that many things can be reduced to a minimum without losing the happiness of living.

I totally agree with you because sometimes our income is enough then things unexpectedly happens like having to take medicine for example that we didn't have an expense for before which sometimes makes it hard to pay for the bills that we had before something came up, like our car breaking down and making it to where we couldn't pay a bill because we only had enough to pay our bills and that's all. That's what happens to me. I barely pay my bills and sometimes I can't pay all of them because just making enough to pay the bills and nothing extra that's why I have to stay home can't afford to do nothing but that. Whats sad is when someone wants to borrow money and I am having problems paying my bills and they talk all the time about going to the movies, eating out all of that stuff and I can't afford to do that and they are coming to me to borrow money. LOL. Have a good week!
