life for a drug user

my m8 has been smoking heroin for over 13 years now. All though ive tried many times to help him, he ends up back where he begun. He rekons the only way he could stop it, was to get a better life!.
It takes money to stop, i mean he needs more money to stop than he needs to keep going.He needs money to eat healthy, to buy vitamins & minerals, clothes to feel good in and places to go and including a job etc.
he thinks he would need to win the lottery, but i reckon not as much. its a shame wen people find their way through drugs to a place where theres no coming back. What do u all think about drugs? about what it does to every1 else around them etc.....

It is very sad when addicts make excuses like that[ because it's an excuse] he can get a better life by kicking the habit in the first place!...[I can only imagine how hard that would be ]He needs to go into rehab and get himself clean...then he can start looking for a new life!

i agree, its not easy getting help or rehab like what people would think. Its a cat and mouse game with the authorities, sum people wait 3 weeks, u mite think 3 weeks aint long?, b ut its to long.....

I know what you mean jasper40t... I have a family member waiting for rehab for over 4 weeks now! how long is this person going to hang on? without going back to his old habit? it really breaks my heart! the court order is...going to rehab or jail!...so far we are still waiting for a rehab place to take him in...I just hope he can get a place to go in before the next court date!

at the moment there is no heroin in the U.K., hes been clean a few weeks now, but what happens if it comes back?, thanks for your comments everyone,

I think he is in a situation when others can help him more than he can help himself. It's no longer a matter on whether he has consent or not. He is sick and too helpless to get himself out of it. If he can't help himslf then his friends should do it for him.

yes thats what ive been saying all along!! Gr8 m8!!, people need help, simple, obviously not the wrong help, but help we should.
I guess it comes down to how long u no each other and whether their is a friendship to help, you got it straight!!!
