What do you do to live frugal? I am new to being frugal so I could use all the help I can get. I recycle my metal, glass and certain plastics with a local company. I also recycle a lot of paper with them, although some goes into my compost bin. I also grow a garden each spring and summer and do my own canning. I have a rain barrel although I need to find the leak in it and fix that. I use coupons when I do go shopping and shop sales. I am also working an a an handmade Christmas this year to save a lot of money.

Hi KG4SXF, it's so nice to know that people nowadays have high consciousness toward frugal living. This is not to cut down the daily expenses only and it's also friendly to our environment. Yeah, piling up stuffs which can be recycled and send to the stuffs collection recycle center is what I usually do for quite a long time. I also help my siblings families to send their used and old stuffs to the center as well We have a small garden in our house compound to grow vegetable plants. Here in the tropical region we have rain always and sunny days almost all the year round. So that we always have own harvest to prepare for our daily meals. This save quite a number of expenses for getting vegetables from the market. Water collected from rain and after washing vegetable and rice, etc is just nice for watering. The fallen leaves from our rambutan and star fruit trees as well as as the grass mowed, and all the leftover, rotten fruits and vegetables, peels, etc are all dump into the compost bin. There are the best organic fertilizers for our plants. They are healthy and nutritious veges. I cut down the time to shop in hypermarkets to save gasoline. We don't eat out often for the prices of foods and beverages hike tremendously nowadays It's so sad that wage never compatible and match with at all. Happy posting

For this year I have come into a conclusion that I should live a bit frugal from my daily expenses because I just want. I should learn how to especially at times like these when everything is getting more expensive by the day. I see other people do it and so I thought so should I. Its a challenge but will most likely end this year with a bang for sticking to living frugally for a year and hopefully go on with it.

You can also switch from those CFL lights or incandescent lights to LED lights to save a lot of money from the electric bill. You can keep yourself busy while working here online and other websites to earn as much as you can everyday. You don't have to go out and spend all these money for nothing. There are tons of way you can save some money from your daily life.

I believe frugality is a hot topic right now. It's great to know that you are being eco-friendly by recycling and composting. We do the same thing here. I am an avid coupon user and love it when I save lots of money when I go shopping. The one thing I do faithfully is use the "meal-saver" to freeze my leftover dinners or breakfast. It's a great item. It has replaced the "seal-a-meal" I had years ago. It vacuum's out all of the air and seals the plastic bag all at the same time. This way the food can be left frozen for up to a year. Since it's just my husband and I at home now we always have leftover food. Now we can enjoy the left overs from a pot roast I cooked in January during the summer.

I plan my expenses. As much as possible, I stick to my budget. When going to the supermarket, I make a purchase list so that I don't end up buying stuff which I don't really need. I try to cut down on electricity bills. Simple measures include turning off the lights when not in a particular room. Unplugging appliances when they're not in use. Also, I recycle and re-use items.

Cut costs like insurance and utilities. These take some thought and planning, but it's not uncommon for people to be carrying more car insurance than they need. Also, raise your deductible if you can. Turn off lights, be careful with water use, turn the heat down and the air conditioning up. Cook from scratch, eat seasonally, be careful how much you drive. I do these things without even thinking about them now.

I use coupons but I am very careful to only use the ones for products I normally buy. I ride my bike or walk when the weather and time permits rather than drive. I reuse all my paper before recycling. And I have finally learned to buy only a few pieces of fruit and veggies. This lets me eat all of them before buying more and I throw a lot less away! I don't buy clothes unless they are dirt cheap on sale either!

I do quite a few things. I only buy in bulk when possible, plan all my purchases, and also track my expenses, meaning every cent I spend. This makes it easier to cut expenses that are not really necessary. I also save all my change. And believe it or not, that really adds up fast!
