Which of these are correct?

This is interesting, I like these questions....."Did you go to the market?" is the correct one. Why? "Did" - is past tense already, once the question word "did" is already used in the sentence, the verb should always be in the present tense. For example: Did you eat your breakfast this morning? - correct "eat' is in the present tense because you used "did" already You don't say "Did you ate........." I hope this would help.

Went" is past tense and "go" is present tense. So you go to the market now or you went to the market an hour ago. All clear? "
