The problem with contacts is that not everybody can wear them. People with allergies that affect their eyes, or have dry eyes that are easily irritated shouldn't use them. Also, contacts require careful handling and the ability to follow safe practices, like not leaving them in longer than recommended, and keeping them clean. The person has to be old enough to do all that responsibly without being constantly supervised, so it's not for young children.
And, of course, there's the cost, and what happens to your vision if you lose a contact lens and don't have a replacement at the moment.
I started wearing glasses when I was still in elementary school and even if I'd been able to wear contacts (I couldn't) I wouldn't have wanted them Regular glasses are much less of a hassle all the way around.

If the allergies cause eye problems, like irritation or swelling, then you probably shouldn't wear contacts. If the allergy is seasonal, like hayfever, then you could wear them during the rest of the year. But putting any foreign object in your eyes if they're already irritated is a bad idea.

Hi. natliegleb. I think that this choice is a decision that one would have to make for their own self. I have worn contact lenses in the past. Now, I just prefer to wear glasses most of the time. They are more comfortable. Contact lenses tend to dry out my eyes.

I would prefer wearing spectacles. It's not complicated to wear. As for the appearance, well, there are a lot of frames to choose from. You just have to get one that complements your looks. It's just like buying sunglasses. You look for a pair that enhances your good looks :)

I prefer specs over contacts!! They are so much more comfortable when working!! Contacts for formal occasions only! I am sure people are going to disagree, i mean every one has their own preferences but for specs work wonderfully!

I used to wear contact lenses but now I just stick to spectacles cause it's more convenient for me. But please be advised that if you choose to wear contacts, make sure that your glasses and your lenses have the same power.

Well i would prefer wearing glasses because i personally do not give much importance to looking good. I do stuffs which i feel comfortable about. Plus its difficult to wear your contact lenses now and then and you have to take them off everytime you go to sleep. So in my opinion wearing glasses is much convenient than contact lenses. Ya if you are so much cautious about your looks, you should definitely go for lenses.

I have always been told that contact lenses are better, I wore them for a long time but after 10+ years I found it hard to weat them.
Overall they're more expensive than specs, and can cause irritation, allergy...I still wear them if I'm on holiday, because I can just bring a pack of daily contacts and be able to wear sunglasses as I like.
But for everyday uses I definitely stick to specs.
