I think I have cancer

I've been worried since December that I may have cancer. I've had a chronic cough, swollen lymph nodes and pain near my right ribs. I thought, maybe BC, but a recent mammo proved otherwise. I just had a cat scan of my chest and haven't heard anything yet. I don't really want to talk to my family about how I'm feeling as I don't want to worry them. So, I hope someone here my help me by discussing this with me.

First and foremost relax!! I have said this on another discussion too. No reason why you should worry needlessly!! Now tell me all the details about your illness and the mammo result and why did you get the mammo in the first place?

Hi Mysticalecstasy, well, I got the mammo as a routine check up. But because I have so many swollen lymph nodes the dr. thought it would be best to get it and the cat scan done. I'm trying to relax but it's not easy.

It never is and what did your mammo say and do you or have you ever been a smoker?

At least you went to the doctor and had the tests and that's good, but it doesn't sound like cancer to me. Coughing, swollen lymph nodes, side pain -- sounds more like some viral infection that can be easily treated with antibiotics. In fact when I first read your symptoms, my first thought was mononucleosis. I had mono and experienced the same symptoms, but like I said, antibiotics knocked it out. I know the hardest part is sometimes waiting for test results. We tend to always imagine the worst, but try to relax. It sounds like your doc is on top of things.
