Ok I have Fedora 9 and i have Windows xp, vista and 7. Im now running 7 on my laptop after installing Fedora and then trying to install 7 ontop it was hard but i managed to do so by altering my partition. Which one do i like better well Fedora is in my opinion much better in its own way. I like windows but honestly im bored with it. After installing Fedora i realized that alot of the applications i use t use will not work with Fedora so i ultimately switched back to usng windows. which one is better in your opinion?

Well, Fedora is a bit heavy and to some extent experimental, so I would say it is not the best distribution for everyone. However, Linux is far superior to any flavor of Windows. Not least because you don't have to worry about virus, worms or trojans. I use a much smaller version of Linux which does all I need. There are so many Linux distributions to choose from but for a new user, I would recommend a Slax based system.
All the applications you could ever need are available, but not under the names you are familiar with in Windows. You just have to search for the type of application rather than a trade name. I am a little surprised that Fedora doesn't have what you want since I believe it comes with over 2000 applications. Did you install every thing? Or tell us what you need and I'm sure some of the many Linux users here will guide you.

ANY version of Linux is better than windows! I just started using Linux a month ago, and it blows away windows xp/pro, etc. I spent so much time battling spyware, adware-.etc using windows it never ended with the nonsense.however using Linux is 5 thousand times better; I can concentrate on browsing the internet and downloading videos and other stuff; and don't have to worry so much about constantly fighting off would be attackers/hackers.Linux uses alot less memory too; as well as less harddrive space. if your tired of the nonsense involved in using windows, switch to Linux. you won't regret it!
