I just found this website http://www.walkscore.com/ where you type in your address and it rates the walkability of any address. How Walk Score Works Walk Score is a number between 0 and 100 that measures the walkability of any address. Walk Score Description 90–100 Walker's Paradise — Daily errands do not require a car. 70–89 Very Walkable — Most errands can be accomplished on foot. 50–69 Somewhat Walkable — Some amenities within walking distance. 25–49 Car-Dependent — A few amenities within walking distance. 0–24 Car-Dependent — Almost all errands require a car. Walkable neighborhoods offer surprising benefits to the environment, our health, our finances, and our communities. My score was 37 out of 100 for Joppa, MD. Which is not that good. We live in a somewhat nice community but if we didn't have a car we would be SOL. So check out the site and come post about your community.

I'd have to say that I'm very car dependent. I live out in the country where almost everything is miles away, including public transportation. Because of this my family and I have to rely on our own transportation in order to go somewhere. Sure, it's the downside to living away from everything, but I wouldn't change it for the world as I love living out here. Happy mylotting! PS I scored an 8 out of a possible 100.

That's an interesting site, but it doesn't seem to be very up-to-date for my town. I looked up our address and it shows a lot of businesses that have been closed for several years now. My score was 65 out of 100. I think it should be lower, since so many of the amenities listed are no longer here.
