How much money do you earn for pictures on associated content?

I know there are a lot of writers on here from associatedcontent.com. I just signed up but am not really sure what to do on there.
Do we earn simply from putting up pictures and if so how much per picture?
I love photography and I usually put all my pictures on gather but if I could earn more putting some of them on associated content then that might be a better option. I dont know if you can just put up pictures to share or if you can only put up pictures if it goes with an article you are writing. I would love some help from long time members of associated content!

Most of my content at AC/Yahoo is photographs. You post them in a slideshow format. No upfront payment, just PPV. But nothing wrong with passive payment.
One way to earn more through your photographs is to post them at AC, instead of flickr or any other photosharing site or even facebook for example. To show friends and family your pictures, give them the link at AC. That way, not only will everyone get to view your photos, you get paid every time they look. Works like a charm!

Right I figured not doing the upfront payment would be the way to go. How much do you earn for each page view on your pictures do you know? I usually post all my pictures on gather but I really dont earn much there especially since I'm not very active on that site anymore and pretty much just upload pictures to have a place to store them so they are safe in the event of a computer failure or fire etc. I dont think on gather I get points for non gather members looking at my pictures because my mother the one day said she sat down and looked at all my photos and my points hadent gone up at all.

LaDeBoheme, that's a great idea and I've actually done the same thing before. I posted all my vacation photos from The Bahamas last year and then asked my friends and family who wanted to view the photos to go there to view. I eventually posted the photos in Facebook, but only after a few handfuls of people viewed my slideshows in AC!
My name there is Bethany Marsh if anyone wants to friend me at AC. I will check out some of your pieces and hopefully we can help each other get more views.

You make from $1.50 to $2.00 (depending on your Clout level) per 1000 page views.
More info: http://contributor.yahoo.com/community/clout.html
I am not that familiar with Gather (except that they use a redeemable point system), so I am not sure how it compares with AC. AC is strictly cash payment which automatically drops in your PayPal account whenever you hit 1000+.
Good luck.

I didn't know AC so far but I took a look at the website, thought it was a good idea to join - joined. Then, when I confirmed my Paypal addy it suddenly said: there are no payment options for non-US people. How saaad !!! Do you perhaps know another such website that also allown non US people to be paid for their content ? Especially videos/ photos ? Of course Mylot's the best but they don't have videos, so that's why I ask :D
Cheers

Well I went and looked at gather and after a long time of searching see that they dont allow members outside the united states to get the cash redemption or gift cards either. While you can earn points on there if you are from another country at this time you just cant spend the points you earn. I doubt that will change any time soon. I dont know of any other sites sorry.

I noticed you mentioned shutterstock, stk40m. This is a stock photography site which is different from a format like AC. Although microstock sites are not limited to professionals (amateurs are welcome too) their standards are very high. Stock photography has recently gotten into videos, too.
Stock photography sites evaluate your photo submissions and only if your photo(s) is accepted, will they will post it. I sell at some of the stock photography sites, and Shutterstock is definitely one of the high-end companies. I have yet to get a portfolio accepted there. Most of their photographers do use expensive equipment and software, and I have just not been able to compete yet.
Companies like AC allow you to post your less-than-perfect pictures (and stock photographs have to be perfect) -- vacation, pets, whatever -- and pay per view. Microstock pays only if someone buys a download of your photo and you can only request payment when your total reaches $50.
But it's still worth a try. Good luck.

Being able to add photos to articles is supposed to also garner a little more in up front payment if the article is worthy. But the problem is the only photos one is allowed to use in many cases that they have not taken themselves is not relevant and using a website where you can buy the rights to something is not affordable in relation to what you get paid for the article.

I tried to post my first review on assoicated content the other day but it wanted me to limit my review to 285 characters I think it said. When I write a review it is very thorough. There was no way I could cut it down to that many characters so I posted the review to reviewstream instead.

I dont believe that you earn for pictures. You do however earn for your articles. It is good to put a picture with your article though because more people will want to read it. I really enjoy associatedcontent. I have been a member at associatedcontent for years and I enjoy it a lot. Good luck on working with associatedcontent.

I dont think I could come up with anything to write about on associated content. I tried once to write a review and it only let me type half of it. It had a word amount limit. I didnt like that so I wrote the review on reviewstream instead. I have yet to ever put anything on associatedcontent yet. I mostly spend my time on mylot and gather.

I just signed up right now and I found at FAQ that this is only for USA residents or they choose such members out side of USA with very high quality content.
So i do not think it is an attractive program and yahoo must take some action to pay each member from all over the world so that Yahoo can get some more active members

I've been at AC/Yahoo for awhile, yet never taken it seriously. Well, that's mostly because I write poetry more than prose or articles. I know little about photos there, other than I do add them with my posts and I do see a lot of photo slide shows.
Good luck over there!
And, look me up at Gather, too!

I havent written or posted anything on Associated content yet. I just put up a discussion here on mylot about gather closing. If gather does close I will be very sad. I guess when that time comes I will be turning to associated content to put up my articles and photos.
