I Was So Sick And For So Long!

But I'm all better now! I honestly thought I was going to die! I'm serious! I was some kind of sick! It started around the 2nd of January, I felt like I had the flu but then it kept getting worse and worse. The next day hubby called the doctor and got an appointment. I went in and couldn't sit up right so I laid down on the table. The doctor didn't know what was causing my sickness so he ran some tests and wanted me to go to this lab to have blood drawn. In the meantime, the test that he ran came back that I had a severe bladder infection and it was so bad that I was nearing being admitted into the hospital. He said it wasn't that bad yet but it was getting there and gave me a prescription of cipro which is a strong antibiotic. I have my blood drawn and went home. A couple of days later I was in the worst condition that I've ever been in! I called my parents crying because I was so darned sick that I threw up on my bed and couldn't do anything about it because I was so weak. Hubby was gone to an appointment and soon was on his way home and my parents were on their way. When my parents got here, they were shocked to see the condition I was in and thought a squad should be called but hubby wouldn't have it and said he'd take me. The reason he didn't want a squad is because neither of us wanted me to go to the nearest hospital because it too, like the one near my parents, didn't have a good name so instead, we wanted to go to the other nearest one that DID have a good reputation. It took my dad and hubby both to help me out of bed and into the car.
Hubby went inside to tell them I was in the car and couldn't walk because I was so weak. They came out and got me and put me in a wheel chair but I couldn't hold my head up so mom stood beside me holding my head. They wheeled me back to the ER room as fast as one could. After seeing the doctor and having an IV put in my arm and blood drawn again, the tests came back that I had a severe kidney infection as well as a severe bladder infection which was potentially fatal and that I had to be admitted to be given antibiotics through the IV which works much faster and better than the pills do. They started me right away on levaquin. I ended up being in so much pain in my hips and my head. Actually I hurt with every joint in my body but the worst were my hips and my head. You see, I have weak hips and I have this feeling that I'll need hip replacement some day so it's one of my weakest parts of my body so the pain settled mostly there and what pain it was!! I tried every position one could get in to ease the pain and nothing worked. I was in the hospital for two days before coming home feeling SO much better! I was to be tested a week after I finished the levaquin pills that I was sent home with. I went in to be tested again and I just knew the infection was still there, and found that it was so the lab tech had gotten a prescription of bactrim from the doctor in which I told her that I was on levaquin before and she said that the doctor prescribed bactrim for me to take it. I said ok and left it at that.
I got the prescription and took it as I was suppose to. When we got home, we were dogged tired so we went to take a nap. I woke up freezing and my teeth chattering! Then I kept on getting worse and worse, I got a fever and every joint in my body was aching again. It was an alergic reaction and I knew it! Hubby calls the doctors office and talks to a PA and she thinks it's the infection and I screamed at hubby to tell her NO IT IS NOT! I'm having an alergic reaction and I will NOT take anymore of this and I want levaquin or she'll be dealing with me later on! She decided to play it safe and order me levaquin which I couldn't take till midnight that night because of still having bactrim still in me. Even still, I ached and ached all night long! I hurt for days after that and still hurt in two places which is my left side in the front and in the back. My skin is so sensitive to the touch in those areas, other than that, I'm ok. What a scare that was! OMG! I feel like I've been on this roller coaster since getting my dental implants! DAMN! When can I get off?! WOW!
Anyways, I saw my doctor again and he's shocked at what bactrim did to me and said it's the first he's seen in about 10 years! He was glad that I came through it alright but doesn't know why my side still hurts like it does but wants me to continue taking levaquin for another 10 more days even though the tests show that the infection is gone but wants to be sure that it hasn't gone into my blood stream. So I have another four more days of pills before I'm finished but I'm feeling SO much better now!! I'm still working on getting the rest of my strength back including my hips which will happen in due time. I've been doing a little bit here and there around the house trying to get a bit stronger each day and it's working.
I haven't been anywhere in the past month out of fear of catching something else such as some flu virus or something because having lupus, I don't have an immune system and catch things like that very easily. Besides, I hate to shop and hubby loves to shop, I've gladly given the job to him. lol
So folks, I'm coming back! Slowly but surely I'm coming back! Now, I have saved a bunch of your discussions to answer when I was able however, some of them are about a month and a half old however, I will answer them because they're important to me as YOU are important to me!
Are you happy to see me back here or no? Come on now, be honest! lol

Last time you checked in you said you were sick. I had been concerned about you.
You take care of yourself, let other people do things for you, because, just because you are a strong, independent woman, doesn't mean you don't need and deserve to be taken care of now and then.
We had a lovely day yesterday, around 80º. But Maggiepie gave me her bug.

Hi Elic! I'm all better now! I still have to take the antibiotics till they're gone which is no problem but gosh, it's GREAT to be back on my feet again! I still have to regain the rest of my strength back especially in my hips but I'll get there. I was so excited when I was able to walk up my porch steps the other day! I almost did the jig! lol The steps weren't built right and are really high which I'd like to have fixed some day but for now, they're like they are for now.
Shame on Maggiepie! lol I'm sure she didn't mean to give you her bug. But hope you get to feeling better soon!!

Hi cher! Good to see you! Yeah, I went through hell and back a few times but I'm on the mend now, thank God! First the dental adventure and then getting sick from this and the alergic reaction. I've never been so sick and for so long except when I had surgery.
About you, these idiots knew better than to do that! I hope you sued their socks off! because they deserved it! It's the very reason I've had to fight so much when my mom was in the hospital, because the care was horrible! But I made them do their damned job though! lol

Hi 34momma! Yeah, it was right bad there for a while. I didn't know if I'd live through it or not but I did and here I am! lol I'm regaining strength every day and will continue to do so as long as I'm able. Did you see my discussion on my Dentist Adventure? That happened just before I got so sick! Makes me wonder if I had this infection all along and didn't know it. I lost 6 pounds because of being so sick. (wish it were more! lol) Thanks for the well wishes and welcome back! Hugs!

I am very glad to see you back. That's quite an ordeal. And it sounds so stinking painful! Pain in the head is the worst kind of pain I've ever felt, but right up there with the worst is pain in the middle of the body. Bladder infections and kidney infections are just so bad I can't even fathom having both!
I'm really behind on my disucssions too. I took a 10 day break (no health reason like yours), and am very behind!

We'll get caught up eventually. It's gonna take some time but we'll get caught up. Won't we? lol

I am so glad that you are back and feeling better Cats. What an ordeal, you poor thing! The infections you had must have been agonising! You must have a weak immune system so I imagine you need to take extra care of yourself. You are lucky your husband is so good to you and you have your parents to call when you are unwell. How unfortunate to have an allergic reaction to the medication that is supposed to help you; it happened to me once and it’s definitely not nice at all! Take really good care of yourself Cats; I am so glad you are back!

Hi paula! I do have a weak immune system because I have lupus. Basically I don't have an immune system or very little of one. Since getting better for the third time, I've stayed home out of fear of catching something in the air. It's gotten me beating down the walls in my home because I hate to be so cooped up and for so long but I want to stay well too so I stay home. Thanks! It's SO good to be back!!

you should taken care of your self. you should have clened your hose regularly.
i personally think that taht was because of the viruse with the dogs.
because nows a days the a dog bite us we have to take 14 injections.
your back is so weak you should eat green vegetables regilarly.
it will give energy to the back.

Hey balarao, I DO take care of myself. I have a disease called Lupus which basically means, I have no immune system to fight for me so I can catch virus' and other things very easily. I've never had a kidney infection but I have had a bladder infection. I take medication every day. I eat vegtables every day.
As for dog bites, if the dog is vaccinated like they should be, you wouldn't have to go through all those shots.

very happy. you see it makes a big difference when you have someone taking care with you when you are deathly sick. when i had H-Pylori which is a dreadful stomach infection much like your kidney infection, i also kept getting sicker because i was also allergic to almost every antibiotic they gave me. and they tried the same one, Bactrim. on me to. i wouldnt have lost my house, all my money, one of my dogs, furniture and everything if anyone here had been willing to help, but i had to give up everything and go to florida and live with my daughter, she got me well again. but now here iam and sometimes i still have trouble with my stomach. now im living back here in az with son. but ive lost mostly everything i had. but im still alive so glad you are better.

Wow bunnybon.... I'm lost for words! I'm SO sorry!! That shouldn't have happened to you or anybody! I agree that it's great to be alive but to lose everything to get there just isn't right. Bless your heart!! I wish I had more to say but I'm too shocked..... how can our world become like this? What happened to compassion?

Oh I won't down your situation because I'm a cronic sufferer of sinus infections! I get them EVERY deg gone spring and fall! They're no fun! Rather very painful! You really should get some antibiotics so you can get well too!
You ought to read my other discussion about my Dental Adventure. That happened just before I got sick here. It's been a hell of a road to travel but I'm back now and hope to stay back! Thanks for caring!

So sad to hear you've really been sick all along but its great you are back at your feet. Going through that ordeal is not new to me as I also went through some life changing trials in my health two years ago.I feel good now but still in the process of full recovery.
Have some good rest and relax. Our health is very important more than anything else. Welcome back :)

Hi lexirose! I'm SO glad to be back! It's been a long long road to recovery, the longest I've ever been on except when I had surgery. I'm glad you're feeling good and hope you are on the up and up as well! And I agree, our health is the most important thing! I couldn't agree more! Thanks for the well wishes!
