Does anybody know about Demand Studios?

I've just come across Demand Studios, and have had a quick look at their website. It's a very professional looking site, and it says that you can apply to work as a freelance writer, film maker, copy writer, blogger or expert. And from their application form I can see that it's open to people from all over the world! Based on some of my past experience with web-based writing, I'm a bit dubious about trying this. Is there a catch? Is it a scam? I've pulled up a few discussions about them on myLot, but the threads are quite old now, and some suggest that it's not easy to get your application approved, another wondered if the company was going down, and somebody said that they are no longer accepting writers. Not being at all familiar with them I don't know what to believe. Has anybody here had experience of working for them? Are they still accepting new people? What skills or qualifications do you need/do you need any? Would you recommend working there? Thanks.

I applied recently, but did not get approved. I think they're looking for experienced people. They say with a degree and work experience. I submitted an application, piece of writing, and resume, and they got back to me in a day or two saying they had a lot of applicants, blah blah blah

Hi Liquorice, Demand Studios is the owner of Ehow and other websites. They are rather strict in the selection of writers, and very strict about the kind of articles they want. I have download the guide for writers and editors. It is very informative for new writers to learn about seo and other tricks. It is not surprisingly if they are no longer accepting writers. I think due to the closure of many writing sites, they have too many writers. You can check out the thread in Associated Content and Helium. Many writers are still writing for them, and still getting paid, but they are complaining about the ridiculous titles.

I've never written for Demand Studios, but a lot of people who write for Associated Content also write for them. From everything I've heard, they're reliable, and one of the better sites to write for. I think that they're not always open for new applicants because they have enough for the amount of work that is to be done. The best thing to do is read all the onsite information, and if applications are open, then apply and see how it goes.
