Perhaps. There's truth in what you say. When talking about pop music , what comes to mind mostly are boy-bands and girl groups and stuff like that. You have bubblegum pop , commercial pop genre of music and many more. Mostly commercialized type of music like R&B and soul. But when it's in the nature of a punk rock or metal genre for instance , most of these music are "underground". Meaning some of the band members refuse to be commercialized , so they are more attuned to their style and fans. They refuse to be "bought" in a way and wouldn't want to be controlled. At least from my perspective.
The word is commercialized. They are more than comfortable to remain underground , accept gigs invitation and keep their music creation and creativity alive. Good topic here. A lot of people have a misconception about punk rock genre type of music , metal and etc. Just because they aren't really mainstream. If one is a music lover , one is able to listen to anything at all. That's called appreciating music. Very good topic here. I like it.

I believe that any type of music can exist. As long as there is someone to enjoy it, it can surely endure. If we wait long enough, many forms of music will be repeated for other generations to enjoy.

punk rock is not the kind of good music to be enjoyed. The popularity of punk rock, I think and I'm sure, this is only momentary popularity. No normal human ear can hear loud music booming

It can exist whether or not it will well known or not is the main question and the answer is yes if someone can create a punk sound which is fresh yet remains in the punk rock genre and applies to many people then it will be successful. All crazes change. Pop music isn't an actual genre though so technically the genres within popular society is at the top at the minute. So if punk rock can speak to masses then they will technically be popular music but punk rock within the charts.
