Microsoft has announced a newly-discovered flaw in Windows that could be exploited by hackers to steal personal details or take over computers. The glitch is so severe it potentially affects every user of Internet Explorer. This means it affects all versions of the operating system currently supported including Windows XP (SP3), Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2008 (R2). Currently, though there's no report of any exploitations of this vulnerability yet, all Windows users are encouraged to download a patch to block any successful hacking attempts, while Microsoft is working for a permanent fix. On a bright note, Firefox, Google Chrome and Safari browsers are all unaffected by the threat because, unlike Internet Explorer, they don't support MHTML files, where the problem lies. Thanks for the info update. It's a good thing I don't use IE as I use Chrome as my default browser. Occasionally, Firefox comes in but IE is like - oh, I have that installed, haha!~But it's a good thing to know so I can have the patch downloaded in case when I use IE 'coz that's third in line though I also have Safari installedI can inform my clients as well so they'll know.

Linux Ubuntu - cool OS too.
Hello SkySuccess, Oh,my! I always knew that something's wrong with that Operating System even though I didn't want my Windows OS before changed. but because of my PC being vulnerable to Viruses and i got one hell of a PC crash three times already, I was forced to agree to my brother to change it to Linux. I have sacrifice a lot most specially playing my favorite games in there but so far it's been good because i haven't got any kind of usual viruses. but i am careful searching sites.I don't have internet explorer, i stop using it since i got fire fox.

Take care and if you do need the reference for the update, then check out my earlier comments above yours.

keeperdream, At the moment, the vulnerability is confined to the IE browser only and as usual Microsoft is mum about other browsers, which is market competition reasons. So, if you are not using IE, then you should be fine. Just make sure you have your programs updated starting with your operating system, right down to your basic application software programs. Not forgetting, to have a fully licensed up to date security suite program to provide added protection for your computer. Have a nice day.
