Hello Lotters,
To be honest, I can say in my opinion that it's hard to be on the right side. Unfortunately, this is really some hard evidence in NUMBERS! which will take forever or never to be solved. I think it doesn't need a lawyer or a prosecutor to know that "Plea Bargain" to a convicted ex-General is ILLEGAL PROCESS, yeah, i got the gut feeling that it's completely wrong despite of the hard evidence. not to mention, the court say it different completely from what the Ombudsman's Stand on Garcia's Case.
As this Corruption in the AFP with the Ex Generals goes deeper as it's being revealed with some statements from one of the revelations from Heidi Mendoza. I think the problem now is the IMPACT on the People, more will no longer believe in the system as it is. every one knows that there's huge corruption in the FORCE. tsk tsk tsk......
This revelation hasn't been exciting since that Lozada cry reveal or other revelations for that matter. There's nothing to say, despite of how dramatic it is, people's perception on the government is FIXED.meaning, it's corrupt on all scale and more people will leave the country as corruption reveals itself and more...someday.
Yeah, Not every one in the government is corrupt, alright and yet they're kind if dwindling in numbers...

I watched the whole session today and we almost ended up buying a new TV. I almost threw my shoe at the television set. I was gritting my teeth as I was watching that good for nothing ombudsman. I just hope she gets what she deserves and I hope she gets it soon.

Hello Xte,
Well, am sure you didn't threw it hard enough for some reason. it's just hard to tolerate these things but you know, we don't have time to have bear much anger on these things. i guess prayer is the best answer for all of our troubles, since we do have a reason to rise again.

Hello friend in our country pointing finger for corruption to a high government officals is like niddle in the mountain of palay hash. Right and left you can heard about government anomally but those people involved are having mountain of ways to escape or counter attact, I don't know why. Unlike other country like Japan if the government officials are concern for such anomally there is an immediate action like resignation or sometime kill himself. I know there are some government official totally clean their names and loyal to their rank, but only few, how about others. That's why Philippines is still under develop country. In the present news about corruption just only investigation but will end up to a trash bin.. see you around

Hello Visavis,
That's why Philippines is still under develop country- from being almost developing back in the 50s to 70s? we just dig our hole into almost oblivion.
Well, they did put the plea bargain thing so it's obvious that this won't be solved that much and either it will take years, or ends up like you said, BIG TRASH BINat least Mendoza didn't threw it away the documents.

Hi LetranKnight25!
Maybe we are cultured in such a dramatic way, that we are so inclined with this. Look at what shows were reigning in televisions, teledrama even game shows were pushing (or exploiting) their contestant to drain the "drama" they have in their life.
Anyway going back to the topic, I think the real question will be what happen after this hearing. Many cases were already been handled and investigated by the joint committee of Congress, and as far as I know there's nothing concrete that comes after each investigation. Unless this current government goes hard with this so called corrupt officials, our country will not moved on and corrupt politicians and government officials will continue to hound (and obviously reign) our country.
Have a nice day!

Hello Letranknight25,
I don't want to be Pessimistic here my friend, by the way nice of you to be active again here with regards to this issue i truly believe there is a justice. this women was once a soldier and was able to help convict another Public servant i have full confidence that someday there will be result to this.unlike other witnesses a lot of experts believed she's a credible witness but the facts are hard to pin against the accused since the ombudsman has a different stand to it.

When i was able to hear this news on tv, it was something that did not surprise me, i kinda knew that there is really some form of corruption anywhere. not just with AFP but i believe in every agency of the Government. Truth is truth and that is the truth, sad to say corruption is deeply rooted in our government and what is sadder and more painful is that the ones suffering are our fellow Juan Dela Cruz. Those people there doing corrupt things are hideous, i mean cmon, they are getting richer by the minute while our fellow Juan is getting poorer with no basic needs... evne with the new president, people are still getting poorer and i am not blaming the president. Though there are who wants to impeach him ( which i also find ridiculous since he is barely a year in his position and no i am not pro Pnoy) but i find it stupid to do that because corruption is already deeply rooted even from the past administration. I cannot even say what will the solution be, even though how many times they will give hearings on this one, on the senate or even in the supreme court or wherever court..there will still be no solutions because money is at play. unless someone will assassinate everyone in the government ( just the heads or something hahaha) but yes.. it is getting hopeless.. no matter how sincere our president will be...but if those people below him are ruthless, shameless or plain evil..Philippines will get to nowhere, sad fact.
50 million pabaon? tsk tsk. i am already happy with my 1000 salary increase, i cant imagine 50 million. lol. i cannot even say if those people who received pabaons are lucky or not...

Hello Jazel,
To those who want to impeach the President right now are nothing more than opportunist. the problem here lies with the past administration which made a lot of mistakes in the military. and i strongly believed that the former President Ambitious now Congresswoman Arroyo should just be prosecuted and be sent to jailthere is one candidate i know who can do it but you know our people they get into emotion.

I guess we have such an incompetent Office of the Ombudsman that even though everybody has been telling them that entering into a plea agreement with Garcia is ill-conceived, they insist that it is the best move for the case. I was about to start a discussion on this issue because as I watched Maldita este Merceditas Gutierrez angrily declare that they did not make money in this transaction and that lightning should strike anyone who did (everyone in the Congress ducked by the way), it only means to me that their Office is composed of lawyers who do not know the law. She'd rather be stupid than corrupt - well she should be impeached then for ignorance of the law.
As for the impact on the people, well, we all suspected the corruption, Heidi merely confirmed it. It made me realize that if we had more Heidi Mendoza in the government, we might be able to go somewhere. But sad to say, and as you pointed out, there are so few of them.

Hello theAdvocate,
I think she should really step down, that's not the kind of woman that should handle the Ombudsman. not to mention she is a Ombudswoman, she's giving a women a very bad taste on how a female handles the pressure of work. and being a maldita is way off on her part and she has no right to be liked that since she's supposed to be role model. I won't get angry the next time some one said they dont' want to go back since there's no hope.

I think the real drama is on us. We have them before, and yet we have done nothing to correct it. We still elect people in the government close to those people who had maligned our being Filipinos. We elected people who are perceived to be corrupt. They are now in all seats of government because we all had allowed them to be. When will the drama stop? I don't know when perhaps when we have all ceased to be Filipinos!

Hello Edna Reyes,
Well, I hope you don't blame me because Except for the President and Vice President, I didn't vote for any public servant that i don't know of. most of them are new to me base on their commercial but i never voted to any one of them.we are still a under develop country, but i don't think being all deceased would help either. a generation will someday turn this around

For me, She's a HERO and she did the right thing though she could have done this a long time ago i believe she tried to do it right in her department. but what made me sad is that they left her and shove it to her throat after years of trying to audit tax payers money
There is no doubt, she is a good soldier to the Military! always has been and will always be.for this am proud to be a Filipina.

Hello Mika,
you're right she is indeed a hero for this.although she wanted to leave it and have a good life in private despite of the thing that bothered on that transaction. but i guess it left her no choice since this ex ugly general here is about to get away from his crimes here, too bad . thinking that people were angry about con-con or cha-cha and yet we get mad when ever we see this kind of problem.

We shouldn't give up yet. you know we lost a lot of opportunity here, but let's not loose any more by giving up on this country. there is hope knowing some whistle blowers took guts into revealing the bad side of the country. the soldiers shouldn't listen to this hearing or it will greatly demoralized them in Battle.

Hello Rebel,
We shouldn't give up and that is a positive attitude. I hope more Filipinos would do something for the country but i know that things are gonna get hard from now on. for the soldiers, i think it's too late knowing that media wants to know the reaction of the soldiers but doesn't care about the impact it will bring.

Hi!
The Congress hearing they are doing is not to convict or point out who's wrong or what but just "in aid of legislation". When we say in aid of legislation, it means that they do the hearing because they think there is a need to pass a law to avoid the occurrence of a situation of similar character. Now to convict Garcia and others is upon the jurisdiction of the judicial branch. This talking they do in Congress, contrary to popular belief, won't convict or punish or sentence the perpetrators guilty.
As to the Plea Bargaining Agreement, it is NOT ILLEGAL PER SE. It is legal if the case is vested with the interest of the State. It's a different story if the plea bargaining agreement is done in ordinary cases like robbery.
As to the corruption, I do think this is deeply rooted in our government. I got the feeling that this Senate Inquiry, when they all realize that this is related to a much bigger case that is involved by much higher officials, the Senate will silence this issue to save themselves.

Hello MsPatricia,
Well, It is my opinion even though by law it's not, which is something that a prosecutor said but that's because there's a flaw with the part of the ombudsman or something. i wonder what could happen but i am happy that they are people who are still fighting for the right to the truth even if the rest of the people in this country has become a pessimist to such hearings.. For me, it's illegal but it is not because we don't have a law that can put a weight for a bigger punish on these crooks despite of a Strong evidence.

I think the Drama would have been crazier if Miriam Defensor Santiago is in the trial, I can imagine the excitement and intensity that trial would have. I'm tired of all the news about corruption and the dirtiness of politics in our country. Its so hard to swallow but sometimes it a circus that is fun to watch. We should stop relying on the government if we want our country to prosper, its in our hands, I'm giving my best to think positive

Hello CaptainAlbert,
Well, that was the Congress hearing but if it was a Senate Hearing, YEAH it could have been something really good.. it's not going to be easy and it proves that we are under develop country with all of what's going on. someday things will change here and there.
