Years ago I got impress with online shopping because I made a purchased to a direct person for some personal stuff. And because of that..I got pretty comfortable because my stuff was delivered on time. So, the next step was on ebay.I wanted to buy a cheap digital camera just for personal reasons.I went to ebay and followed a bid for a second hand digital camera, an olympus fe320.I never bothered to read any info about the buyer since he had pretty stuff on sale and there was a lot of bidders for his items. After following the item for a day..I won the bidding and had to pay.My mistake was to send the payment through money remittance and all I had was a mobile number and a name. After paying..I never got the item plus, I can't reach the owner..from that I knew I was scammed. It wasn't a big amount but still I was scammed. Now, no matter how much cheaper an item is I do not shop online anymore. It was something I learned so much as an experienced..have you ever been scammed online ???

So you didn't take the most basic precautions, got screwed, and now you act as if everybody online is going to cheat you. I've been shopping online for years and have never been cheated. What's the difference between us? If I shop on a site like eBay, which I never do any more, by the way, I research the seller. If you'd bothered to do that, you might not have jumped at the bargain, and wouldn't have lost any money. Sometimes the ratings and the raters' comments aren't enough to protect you, but at least you reduce your chances of being scammed.
What else do I do that's different? I shop at sites I know are reliable. Either they're big enough so that I know their reputation, like Amazon, or I've read reviews of the site or heard good things about them from people I trust. I've bought clothing, computer accessories, household appliances, cat food, books, clothing, shoes, and dozens of other types of items online. If millions of people buy online and are satisfied, maybe it's because they're doing something right.
Scammers can be very convincing, and even the most careful person might get scammed. But if you stay away from sites like eBay, where it's really impossible to know much about the seller, then you're probably going to be safe.

hi Catana..I think you misunderstood what I am trying to say. I am glad to meet an online shopper who was never cheated for two years but lemme just say also that things can happen even to those who shopped cautiously.I am not against online shopping..as you can see I have shopped before and that ebay experience from a scammer is something I learned from.I am not here to badmouth online shopping or any site where you can buy and sell stuff. My intention on posting this is to share my experience and to hear from others experience and point of view.
Again..I am NOT against online shopping..and if I screwed up and got scammed that was a learning experience.I appreciate your point of view.have a great day!

The reason why do not shop online because of what happened..but that doesn't mean I am totally against it.We have our own choices..I have my reasons but I do not stand for everyones choices. Ü

I had never tried shopping online since I still don't have a credit card. But I'm planning to have one after I graduate, and online shopping is one thing I'm looking forward to do in the future. I guess it's better if you'll shop on secure sites like Walmart and Amazon.

hi sinscythex you can shop onine even if you don't have a credit card ..there are a lot of ways to pay for the items and usually the seller would put what payment method they accept.

I've been an active shopper for 2 years now and I don't encounter any problems except one time during Christmas, I bought a perfume at ebay but when the mail came, it was a DVD inside and the envelope was ripped off and was only tape. SO, I contacted the seller but she insisted she mailed it. Anyway, she refunded me for the shipping...After that incident, I didn't stop until this day and will always check the remarks of other buyers before making a bid especially at ebay!

Maybe the carrier damaged it..During christmas its really tempting to shop online because the goods are very nice and its cheaper. If you have sellers who you've been shopping for many times and with very great service then that is one awesome online shopping for you.Its nicer to learn from experience.I have nothing against online shopping,I only got disappointed on my own fault.

I had a similar experience. Very much inforgettable. Some time ago, I came a cross a website selling computer softwares. The prices posted were very cheap, making it very attractive. So I purchased one software, made payment online. But, that software I purchased never came. It has been over a year now. Since then, I do not purchase any thing online any more. A really unforgettable and sad experience.

I never tried buying stuff from facebook but I've seen a lot of sellers and boutiques online.I was thinking of buying a shoes online but did not do it..the boutique was just around the place..I'd probably make the purchase myself.

Hi tanya,
Your post just adds up to my collection of horror stories on shopping online. Living far away from the center of online stores, I have a lot of doubts about buying on the internet.
I make it point to have the product in my hands first before paying for it. I appreciate the courage of those part with their money before getting hold of the thing paid for. How they do it, I don't know. Maybe they have a lot of money. For me, money is a prime commodity and I would not waste it on some online deal that may not be there at all.
I do all the buying of my items on local stores and delegate only online shopping to research about the product to help me decide in buying it in the first place. Paying for it online, never. If I have lots of money in the future maybe I'll do it then.

hi rog0322,I feel bad bout that..It was an experienced I won't forget but learned from well.Buying online is not that bad,I made a mistake on choosing my seller and getting tempted. Its well..very tempting to buy something nice and cheap, who wouldn't want to buy something affordable or cheaper than the original price..?Well,I've always thought of what you said..of paying for something you haven't got hold of yet, that is very very hard and true. When you pay something online, sometimes you get doubtful but its a matter of making wise shopping too.Let's just be careful when we do it online.

I often shopping online, but not from ebay yet, just through local site. So far in my experience i have never been scammed, but often get problems with the sellers like misunderstanding in money transfer, and also often with the delivery servicer so my stuff delivered lately. I always ensuring the reputation of seller, i think it's the best way.

That is very good to hear icecubic..I admit to have made a mistake and I was not being careful and too trusty. My husband sells things online and what he does is meet up and transactions through texting for clear communication about the purchase. ;)
