With this blizzards moving into most of the states I worry about alot of out mylotters in the 2100 miles of storms.
There are alot from Texas to maine on here I am thinking we wont hear to much from tham as the day goes on.
SOme of it reminds me of the winter of 49 most here might not remeber or wasnt born but we had drifts of snow up to 10 feet when it was over with.
I was in school when it hit and momma came got me we lived 2 blocks away from the school and it was knee deep when she came to get me and we walke back to the house in it. Thsi was in Idaho
My hubby remebers it hitting Tenn and the birds froze and other birds were eating them. Now that was one bad winter.
Praying that all our friends stay in and stay warm for it looks like 2 days of storms and no telling how many will be out of power . THey should be prepared so lets hope so and they make it thru with no harm done to them.
Blessings to all of them

Because of the blizzards I am at home for the next two days. Schools are closed, businesses are closed and store shelfs are empty. Right now looks horrible, I was driving back home 4mph and I am happy to made it.
I am in my bed right now, tired of thinking, because outside is getting worst every minute. Cold, icy, wind with probably 40mph, no place to hide. I am hopping to have no problem with electricity and heat. At least I have involuntary vacations
Hugs!

It is real deep with snow where I live too. It started Tuesday and it got deep fast. None of it has melted yet. It is supposed to stay too cold for it too melt away. It is supposed to snow some more sometime this week. I'm glad that our electricity is still on and hope that we can leave our house sometime this week so we can go grocery shopping. I'm thankful to have a warm roof over my house and haven't ran out of food yet.

well, my house has underground utilities - my mom used to lose power regularly before she moved into the Manor...
I can't say the cold is a lot of fun, but at least so far it isn't ice!
I've put another blanket on my bed and will be sleeping in sweat pants, because I expect the cats will manage to hog the blankets before dawn.
Still, if we lose power, we can find a way to light the oven (gas) and at least have that to keep us warmer...

We usually dont get alot of snow or freezing temps here. I live ina rv right now. I have heaters to keep somewhat warm. When the temps drop way down i also stay dressed warm even in the rv. They tell us to leave the water dripping so it dont freeze. Worked great till last night. No body ever said the drains may freeze. Well, they did last nite. Sinks filled up and water and all over the already cold floor. It frooze. The door even froze shut i had to kick it open. Then i had to pour hot water on the door frame to get the ice off so i could close it again. So now since the water cant trickel that may freeze too. I hope not. We should have a few days of warm now so hopefully things will get better. Like i said it usually dont get below 0 here. I hope we are done for the year. Another winter like this will have me selling this rv. Im scared about apt bldg. You neighbor could fall asleep cooking or smoking and burn up all your stuff.

Its the drain that frooze up. So then i had to stop the facet trickel because it had no where to drain out. Now the facet is frooze. The temps today and tomarrow are supposed to be back in the norms of 30-40 so hopfully all will be better. Not much i can do about the frozen floor. I have to go to work today so i will leave one heater on above part of the icy floor. Its a oil heater that looks like one of those steam heaters. The only one i trust to be on while iam away. but i need to keep the cords out of the wet areas. It is a mess. So what do i need to do put heat tape on the drainage pipes?

I worry about the storms too. I remember a blizzard here before that shut everything down for weeks. I remember my gas lines freezing on the car I had and having to have it put up on a lift and heaters under it!
My b/f's family is in Indiana and they are supposed to be getting a big spanking this week. I do worry about them. They have alternative heat sources and I'm sure they have food. That is what I worry about....alternative heat sources.
Take care myLotters! Get that food and alternative heat source if you can!

Sounds like up here. So much for global warming. I just hope it is not the start of another ice age. I remember in the50s when it was snowing in Vancouver, B.C. where I lived as a child. It was for only one year, but then I remember my brother and I building an igloo and going in it. Come to think of it, it could have been in 49 because I was going to kindergarten that summer.

Oh yeah, here in Oklahoma where I live we got about 18 inches of snow. I'm so glad we didn't get all the ice they were talking about, so its not too hard to get around on. Everything is closed in town, even walmart's closed..lol. I think thats as much snow as we've gotten in years, and they're talking another snow storm coming in Monday. I'm enjoying staying in the house and keeping warm, with my hubby, he hasn't been able to go to work either, its just too hard to get out on the roads. I hope everybody is staying safe and warm..God Bless to all.

Blizzard out that way, huh? I have another Mylotter friend that lives in Tennessee. I hope she is okay. And one up in Maine or some such place. I wondered why I hadn't seen her online much lately. It must be because of the weather. Hope all are okay out that way. And, yes, blessings to all of them. You take care.

LOL, I guess you are right and I am the dumbhead LOL I just out of my warm recliner to answer the phone from a friend who is also worried bout us.
I couldnt' get hold of the VA to cancel my hubby's apt. but found the VA here only has security and fire depts. running today, so will have to call again and make sure they don't have down for a no show........which the VA is notorious for doing.
Ah, the beauty of this crappy snow and hard , blowing wind.
Even my birds are finding shelter in my dog's house. Bless their pointed little feathers !
Thanks for all the prayers and God must be listening cuz we are doing fine here.
It does my old heart good to know you guys all care !
I love all you mylotters ! And, we are fine, just cold, every thing is WHITE ..............
I am glad I paid my gas bill LOL
huggs, quita

Yes indeed we are one of those affected, as we got about 4 feet and still falling, then it turned into thunderstorm rain, and now it is 25 below zero Fahrenheit plus we had a power outage for 2 days.
So unfortunately many businesses are closed and many who are homeless I am afraid to say are very left out right now. We are snowed in and lucky here at home it is just my boyfriend and I so we make do with what we have. Sad for the families with small children and of course the homeless.

I am one of the people who do not live in the path of the storm. I will suffer the humid summers here in Georgia as long as we escape the drastic winters.

I'm not going to say "it missed us" because it's not over yet. But, so far, we've really lucked out! All we have had, so far, has been rain... nice, wet rain.
We're right on the border of rain/ice with this storm system. I was VERY pleasantly surprised to find it still wet outside this morning, meaning that it did not freeze up overnight.
Last winter we got over eight feet of snow so I have the feeling that the powers that be are allowing us a bit of a reprieve this year.
BUT, the temps are dropping, supposedly dipping into the low-30's by this afternoon and another round of this stuff is heading our way. I am SO hoping that what is out there now doesn't freeze solid overnight because we'll be in a real pickle if that happens.
Still, if it gets bad, I'm ready for it. I made sure there is enough of everything here for the duration should it turn bad. The only thing I'd miss would be my internet but I have plenty of books to read so I'll be able to keep myself occupied and out of trouble.

the storm is hitting my state. however, where i live wont' be badly affected. i wish it would snow, but we are only getting freezing cold temperatures. the temperatues will be between negative twenty and negative 30 degrees farenheit. i will be spending almost all of my time inside.
