It would help if you put up and age group. Some of my favorite books though are the Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd, Crank and Glass by Ellen Hopkins, and The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky.

I've been a member of several book clubs, and the books I always got the most from were the ones I tend to enjoy least. I think the book that really shaped my thinking on a lot of issues was a biography of Florence Baker. That book alone made it worth wading through books I didn't really enjoy in other months. I also liked the Alexander Scott McCall series about the Ladies' Detective Agency, but I didn't really find those books I liked as profound as the nonfiction books.

What do you usually read? Do you have a specified genre or do you just read whatever? I've thought about starting my own book club in my area, but I would be having everyone read high fantasy novels all the time. So my picks would be books like Lord of the Rings, Chronicles of Narnia, and The Last Unicorn. So do you have a specified genre and do you tend to stick to adult novels or do you venture into YA and children's books from time to time?
