Everybody knows how to get there now!

Seriously, nobody ever walks into my cubicle. So I'm on a work call, and a guy I don't know walks into my cubicle, and wants to know where the bathroom is. So I told him. That's when somebody on the call tells me I'm not on mute, and now every knows how to get to the bathroom from my cubicle, even if they're not in this office. Oops... So that's when I took out the instructions for my "new" hands free device, and figured out how the heck to put the darn thing on mute. Later in the day, I have it on mute (calls all day long today), and somebody ELSE walks into my cubicle and introduces herself. I start to say hi, and freak out, OMG. And then I un-freak out as I see how I have cleverly put my phone on mute. Be prepared, that's what the Boy Scouts say, right? :D

Sounds like a fun day at the office with all those visitors. I use to complain that my office (even though I said I had an open door policy and apparently they took me up on it) was always full of people. But I can't imagine no one ever stopping by... I think I would have been lonely? I'd even shown them to the bathroom.

My other office was different, but since I've moved up here, and most of the people I work with are down there, most of my work is on the phone.

Being prepared is so nice. You should have one of those hand free devices like the fast food places have that you can only hear them when they press down the button. But then you will get a sore finger from holding it down all the time in your work. Maybe you need to put up a tape across your entryway so every tom, rick and harry won't come in your cubicle.

Maybe there was a sign that said "Door Prize" so it attracted the extra visitors. Of course that door prize would be free kittens.

hi dawn oh yes and the Girl Scouts also use it. what a day you have had. I just remembered my tape recorder I took to one of my University English classes as I often dozed off because the prof 'droned instead of talked so I recorded his lectures . well some how I put new tape in and tested it before going to class. going one two three hey hurry up in there i have to go to.okay this was never to be heard by another soul, right? uh not. I hit the wrong button as i wanted to rewind as he had stopped to answer a question. so the class of some 90 students all got to hear" testing one two three hey hurry up in there.I have to go to and I " by then I found the off button and the whole class was giggling. After class One fellow student about the age of my son then said,"Mrs Hatley thanks I was so bored". and he laughed and I laughed too. then I stopped in the profs office to apologize and he was laughing too. so at least he was not angry and I never did that again.lord. i was in my fifties and totally embarrassed and my young classmates all thought it was just great. So now everyone knows if they stop to talk to you and need to go potty the way to the restrooms. lol.

You have to admit, this is funny. I don't use the speaker on my phone cause I forgot to shut it off on time so when the next call came in everyone heard part of the conversation before I could get it shut off.

I don't use the speaker either, would be annoying to my neighbors, but I do have a headset, and if I don't put it on mute and I'm talking to somebody else, oops....

It is so funny how those things happen. I have a friend that has her phone on speaker phone all the time. I really don't care to hear her conversation but what can I do. I mentioned it to her once and she said she didn't care if people heard what was being said to her.

Look on the bright side. You became famous, and probably made a lot of friends. Good on you, girl!

Just figure, you gave everyone a public service announcement. So if they ever visit your location they can trot right off to the bathroom any time. Then of course you gave yourself a little lesson on technology. I see you have picked up the skills of muting yourself really quickly. Yay.

So, how do you get to the bathroom from your cubicle? I think that I missed that memo I'm actually quite glad to hear that you learned how to put the headset on mute because there are times that we are listening to someone else talk and we really don't think about the fact that there are other people listening that will hear what we say when someone asks us a question.

We get on these calls and people are typing, having other conversations, all kinds of stuff. Thank goodness for mute buttons!

Whenever we get to have phone conferences, the mute button really comes in handy. Usually, we would be talking to a supplier and sometimes we would like to talk among ourselves about how the people on the other side are BS-ing us. But we don't remember to push the button all the time. Sometimes they still hear us agreeing among ourselves that we are being fed BS. The good thing is they don't see how red our faces are! We should be prepared. Like Boy Scouts.

I hope it was a conference call : as you are complaining to not be visited in your cubicle, now these people will be able to go from the bathroom to your cubicle. Technology can be embarrassing. I remember when my first mobile rang when I was in the bathroom : I needed a few seconds to decide that I had not to answer a phone call in this place .

LOL, sounds like hand, ear and vocal coordination. One trick I have to have a manual for. Well on the lighter side now back to no more visitors as the whole office building is well aware how to get to the restroom.
