natural ways to sleep better

I have trouble sleeping, and this seems to be a recurring problem. I'm a late sleeper. It usually takes an hour before I'm able to sleep. And there are nights when I feel that my sleep isn't enough or deep, that's why I wake up feeling groggy. Any suggestions on how to sleep better? I prefer the natural ways. I have tried sleep enhancing-supplements but I don't want to be dependent on them. Thanks.

Before going to sleep go for a small walk around your block, have a bath and even after that you don't feel sleepy then read a book.Don't smoke or consume coffee or anything that contains caffeine.
