Free trade & the wilderness returned to Runescape yesterday & it was a disaster.
No sooner than I logged in I was bombarded by beggers asking for free Gp. Then friends started messaging me about all the scamming & luring they'd suffered. Account hacking has also shot through the roof. With the ability to trade all your hard earned items to another account it's now worthwile to hack someone. I planted my crops in the Ardounge patch & headed toward the one in Catherby only to see the flax field getting overrun by bots. It's a criminal paradise.
It's like Jagex has just dumped everyone in the penal systems of the world into Runescape with us. I've seen many people on the R.S. forums posting that they now regret being part of the 91% of the people who voted for this. Too late, thanks to your stupidity the damage is done. Many of the real players are now walking away from the game , at least until things settle down a bit.
I'm still there. I've always been self reliant & know better than to fall for any of the scams. This IS forcing me to be less social though.
I'm wondering just how long it'll take before Jagex realizes they made a mistake & put things back the way they were?

I completely know how you feel. However, it's not that big of a deal for me.
I had started runescape quite a while ago. In the old days, there was free trade, and it was much easier to scam. There were no safety precautions, no emails, none of that. Security upped quite a bit in the last few years with the explosion of bots.
Don't worry, Runescape is still a far from perfect game. Use the grand exchange for safe trades.
This also means that prices are liable to crash, extremely quickly, and when you aren't expecting it. It also means that junk is useless, since there are not set prices anymore.
Enjoy the game, no game is perfect. If you find it impossible, then don't play it. After all, the point of playing games is fun. =)

That's true. Runescape has now left the economy very easily manipulated.
I would agree that runescape brought back the good old PvP, but I disagree with the free trade. We should have separate polls on those.

I kind of like the free trade update because I can trade gold to myself... I think its quite useful...

I totally agree. But, Jagex was smart about bringing in more people.

I voted no for a reason and that reason was that runescape would be filled again with scammers, bots and stuff like that. I made one account back when tyese features were still ongoing and there was these guy that made me think that one item was really rare and i paid for it something like 500k and then somone told me it wasn't rare, free trade should be removed, I like the old wildy, but it should be removed too, bount hunter an pvp worlds aee for killing other players, these features should be gone!

I already knew that some people were going to regret free trade coming back since they never actually experienced old runescape. Howvever, it is up to the responsibility of you in order to protect your items. To be safe, always check the second trade screen, don't believe people who are trying to lure you into the wilderness, and follow this quote "If it's too good to be true, then it probably is."

The botting IS how they hacked you most likely. The guys who make those programs don't just distribute them from their own generosity. Every one of them has a keylogger embedded deep in it. They may not take your account immediately but eventually they will once they fell you've earned enough for them to take.
