Colossians 2:8-10
Beware lest any man spoil (rob) you through philosophy and vain deciet, after the traditions of men, after the rudiments of the world an not after Christ. For in Him dwelleth the fullness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power.
Colossians 2:15-16
And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it. Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days. Which are a shadow of things to come, but the body is of Christ.
I Corinthians 14:33 For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.
Romans 14:1-6
Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, but not to doubtful disuputations. For one believeth that he may eat all things, another, who is weak, eateth herbs. Let not him that eateth despise him that eateth not; and let not him which eateth not judge him that eateth: for God hath received him. Who art though that judgest another man's servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand.
One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth everyday alike, Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind. He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth the day not, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth no, and giveth God thanks.
There are more, but I will stop here. I have struggled with this numerous times. I work in healthcare. We are required to work all days of the week as there is no one but us to care for our residents. Am I sinning? Jesus healed the sick on the sabbath and was crucified for doing so. I think that if we honor the LORD all days of the week, we are safely keeping the commandment. I do not believe man can change anything that God decreed. I know the history of the Catholic church, as I grew up a Catholic and went to parochial school. They do not have the power to change what God decreed. So, the seventh day sabbath is the day the LORD created for rest. And our rest is in Jesus. He did the work of creation, and of redemption. HE is our sabbath. I do understand that our physical bodies need rest as well. Mark 2:27 says, And he(the Lord) said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath. Do I believe the 7th day is the Sabbath, yes. Do I believe that we should rest on the seventh day, yes. God did not blot out the commandments, he blotted out the ordinances. But I also believe that Jesus came to fulfill all the law, and if we rest in Him, we are keeping the law.

I have read the discussion about who is the beast and who is the antichrist and who fits all the prophecies.
I once thought it was all cut and dry too.
The Catholic church may be loosing temporal power, but the doctrine they push is still alive and well in OTHER denominations and religions. We are thinking as man thinks. Look at it from God's perspective. Read the letters to the seven churches in the opening chapters of Revelation. We are in the Laodecian age right now and Protestants are allowing things that 25 years ago would NEVER have happened in mainstream churches. Then read about the tower of Babel and study WHY God did what HE did there. And realize that Mystery Babylon is not just ONE group, but a system in place amongst men who think that knowledge and science has replaced God. God doesn't think in boxes like we do. He see the beginning from the end all at once. Take a look at the UN and it's goals. AND the only system RIGHT NOW that beheads people for not submitting or bowing the knee. The Islamic religion is right now awaiting the 12th Iman, who will FORCE the infidel to submit.
Alot can happen over night. Catholic pope could actually join with Islam, he's been apologizing all over the world for the sins of the past, to Islam and to the Jews.
When I think of ALL that I see in the world today, I do not try to make prophecy fit it. I look at PROPHECY and wait until what happens in the world fits it.

The RCC has lost power, and it's losing more and more...and the more it destroys itself, won't be long before it has even very little power...as the Islam faith IS gaining more and more power, and at an extremely fast rate...look it up..it's in the Britannica.

Apparently, the Sabbath has always been the first day.
According to bible.ca (http://www.bible.ca/H-sunday.htm), Christian have always worshipped the Sabbath on the first day, because according to letusreason.org (http://www.letusreason.org/7thad18.htm), the Sabbath commemorated a day of rest after the creation and the first day represents a finished redemption.

But the bible says, in conjunction with the Ten Commandments...
"By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day He rested from all his work. Then God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating He had done."
Ten Commandments:Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it you shall do no work: you nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your manservant, nor your maidservant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.
The Commandments were also written in stone. Symbolic in and of itself meaning unchanged forever. He is God, he could have written them on whatever He wanted, but He chose stone. It is also the only commandment that says, "Remember".
Thank you for your input! Really appreciate it, helpful too! Thank you!!

Oh my, I am embarrassed.
I just read my original response and I said the Sabbath has always been the first day. NO, that is wrong. I meant to say the Sabbath has always been the last day.
The Sabbath or Saturday represents the day of rest and solitude, but the first day or Sunday represents redemption and is the day of worship and praise. So the Christians worshipped the Sabbath, which is still the last day, on Sunday, the first day.
Of course, when I refer to Saturday and Sunday as being the last and first day respectively, I am just equating it to our calendar. Whether we call a day Saturday or Sunday or Monday, etc. is irrelevant to the Bible or the story of creation.
Damn, I may end up confusing myself here.

The Christians began meeting "on the first day of the week" likely because Jesus rose on the first day of the week "after Sabbath" (Matthew 28:1) But notice in the Book of Acts how Paul (and others) would go to synagogue on the Sabbath.
Some folks think sunday is not a good day to worship because it is called "sun" day, and being a roman name of the days.. but i think they forget that saturday was saturn day and saturn was worshiped as a 'god' too..
Also there were two Holy Days which always fell on the first day of the week. In Passover Week, the third Holy Day of that Holy Week always followed the regular Sabbath - Leviticus 23:4-11 (whereas Passover, like modern Easter is a moveable Holy Day followed by the second Holy Day of Passover Week. It can be a little confusing especially as in the days of the New testament writing, it wasn't uncommon to call every Holy Day of Passover Week - Sabbath.
Also Pentecost was exactly 7 weeks after the last Holy Day of Passover Week, so it too fell on the first day of the week - Lev 23:15,16
I think it's interesting that Hebrews chapter 4 says Jesus is our Sabbath/rest. I like that!
blessings!

Christ changed the day of worship at the time of his resurrection and appearance before his apostles. In Mark 16: 9 He made his first appearance before them and it was on the First day of the week. Other passages confirm this as in Acts 20:7 and those who were known as Christians have forever after assembled on that day.
Jesus changed it to signify His fulfillment of the Mosiac Law and institute his fullness of the gospel among men to be sent forth among all peoples of the world. I find it interesting that our entire calender and most of what we follow today, springs from His life, deeds and teachings.
Many people who deny His influence today and upon their lives, have no knowledge of real history or how much this Godly man affects everyone today. It's in our scriptures, but who reads them anymore?

I appreciate the response!!!! Thank you!
However, I'm even more confused than before I asked...so His appearing on the first day, and THAT alone changes the seventh day to the first? The Ten Commandments do not apply anymore? Or is the Sabbath day the only commandment that changed? Why? Then why would that particular day be hallowed and blessed by God Himself, and the only commandment that says "remember", only to be changed later?
But in the actual commandment, it is specific in explanation, which says nothing of assembling nor appearing...and if Jesus appeared to them on the first day, then what was Jesus doing on the seventh day?
