Many people today question the authority of the Bible. Reasons vary but I think most are doing nothing more than excusing themselves from obeying its wisdom and principles. If they can rid themselves of a condemner, then they can do whatsoever evil they desire and make it sound acceptable.
Most give 2nd generation excuses as reasons for non-belief. They don't challenge the wisdom or teachings directly, as in being honest, doing good, prayer, etc. except by being disobedient to them. Since they don't live the principle, they never prove the validity of it to themselves. Then they wonder why it never works for them?
The parts of our American society that work, are all based upon Biblical principles. Those that don't are based upon our disobedience to those basic principles. Thoughts anyone?

Wow I don't think you should've put this discussion under "thinker". I do not believe in the Bible nor in any god nor deity. I haven't "rid myself of a condemner so I can do whatsoever evil I desire." I don't desire to do any evil. I do good, not in fear of punishment, but because I have morals. I don't need a book to list them out for me. I am guided by love. What has guided you to cast such judgments on others? It doesn't sound love. It doesn't sound like any attempt of understanding or mercy. To me, it sounds like prejudice and malice. Is that part of those basic principles?

Many people today do not feel there is any validity in the concept that the Bible has any authority. Too many people use the authority they feel that the Bible grants them to do evil, justify hate and condemn those that do not share their beliefs.
The whole idea that the parts of American society that works is based on biblical principles is pure bunk. For several hundred years the great evil of slavery flourished in America and the justification for it was based on biblical principles. Homophobia is rife in American society and takes its justification from biblical principles.
I do not and can not base my behavior on a two thousand-year old book that is badly in need of revision.

the truth of our existence is found in bible and the meaning of our life is also there , it gives you the confidence and trust to move ahead of others if you beleieve . the words of bible carries a authority that cannot be compared to any other ones hence you need to embrace it and free yourself from bondage of evils.
