Some people do look better if they do not smile.

It is not because they do not have front row teeth or anything like that. Sometimes, I just find some people very good-looking if they do not smile. If ever they smile, well.. They do not look ugly, but they just look less appealing. Maybe it has something to do with the other features that do not blend well if the lips turn into a smile. I am not sure. My boss at work made a "joke" earlier about my co-worker. He told her, "Hey, you look gorgeous if you don't smile. Seductive even. If you smile, you look like a guy." My co-worker was so affronted that she stormed out the room. Shamefully, I did agree, because I thought the same thing -- but I only kept it to myself. My boss had to apologize to her. Anyway, this is a very useless discussion. However, I just want to express my thoughts today. Yikes! I am not even sure if I look good when I smile. Perhaps not. Well, it's just an observation. Some people do look better if they do not smile.

I don not agree with your and your statement. All the people that I've know in my life, look better when they smile. I don't know any person that looks better serious.

Thanks for being honest. I appreciate your opinion. Good looking or not, it feels good to be smiled at by people. People who smile let out a positive aura and can make the world smile with them. It lets the world see the inner beauty because of one simple smile. I hope I did not offend you with my statement. Happy MyLotting! :)

No, you didn't offend me. Personally I don't like to smile, I know that smiling makes me look better, but it's not a sincere expression for me. I feel I don't need to smile if I'm happy. Also, sometimes there are lots of sad things to cry for, so I just choose to be serious.

I like it when some models are too serious in their pics. It brings out their sophistication in them. And your boss is right, sometimes some people are more seductive when they don't smile... hehehe...

I think a smile is a smile, is a smile. And that what makes people beautiful. The thought that some people look even better not smiling is brought about by what society offers us. Models try to pose stern or cold to sell their clothes, yet people still associate models as beautiful people. Even your boss' remark about your co-worker's look being more 'seductive' must come from some ideas of (print)models looking seductive while not smiling.

I believe you are right with this as I observed that the real serious character types of people usually do not look appealing when they smile as it at times looks sort of as if they are forcing the smile. Smiling should be a natural act and for some it does not come easily.

you are right friend it is very correct in my wife's case :). She doesn't look ugly if she smiles but looks better when doesn't smile but sometimes she told that i am a very lucky guy as i am looking very handsome when smiles but she can't smile heart-fully in public in sometimes due to less appealing. But i always like my wife despite of her appealing.

I totally agree with you. I have a friend who's like this. She's much prettier when she's not smiling. Funny thought, but definitely true! :)

Bad MOVE for the BOSS! i think she takes her job seriously and JOB COMPLIMENTS is one thing she really needs and not her looks, definitely not HIS business :D

I heard somewhere, a long time ago that most people smile with their whole face, especially their eyes. You can tell they're smiling if you just look at their eyes. I don't know if that means they aren't really happy and just smiling for the camera or what, but since I've been paying attention I've noticed this concept leads to a smile not doing them any good. I have a very round face. Unless I am at a really good weight my face then looks really wide when I smile. Put a hat on my head and I could stop a train!

I agree with you. There are actually people who do not look better when they are smiling and at times I find it distracting. LOL! It might sound rude but already some of you also agreed. One of the features I think is having a large mouth or large teeth that make some people don't look good when smiling.
