A football match without cheerleaders !?

Sportively speaking, I am in the "soccer" part of the world and not in the "football" part. However, there is something in a football match that I can enjoy without knowing the rules : the cheerleaders. But the crisis strikes again : I am reading that the next match between the Green Bay Packers and the Pittsburgh Steelers will be the first in all the history of the Super Bowl without cheerleaders ! WTF? Is it possible to enjoy a NFL match without pom-pom girls ? Here is a link to the article where I read this news : http://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/2011/02/02/super-bowl-cheerleaders-s-d-g-l-d/#

LOL! I think that Top might be afraid that he will actually learn the game (and wouldn't that be quite a shame) without the distraction and entertainment of the cheerleaders to keep him occupied.

Purple is perfectly correct : I would have now to learn the game or to do something else. Don't feel sorry, mystical, I always tries to see the good side of everything, and the disappearance of cheerleaders has a good side. Now that I have two thoughtful friends wanting to teach me the rules by web cam, I will probably become an avid fan soon .

LOL! I almost feel bad for you having to endure a football match without the entertainment of cheerleaders. I have enjoyed many football matches without cheerleaders, but then again I was playing the game with friends rather than watching it on television. I really don't watch it on television that often, because it is really boring just sitting there and watching rather than doing the running, passing and tackling yourself.

I am not really the delicate flower that my picture might suggest, although I am not a "burly" woman, either. I guess you could say that I am stronger than I look, and I enjoy all kinds of games both physical, such as football and basketball, and non-physical, such as board games and video games. Don't worry, though, I will not tackle you ... unless of course you ask for it.

I am weighting less than 150 pounds, so football is not for me. I don't like physical games, except some very private games .

You were playing football purple ? I thought it was a game incompatible with your flowers... I have seen a match of rugby played by women, and I think that some games are not for women. And also not for me : I would not like to play rugby or football. But I can be a good TV supporter .

Very good ! You have to do something : it is the best sport tradition in your country.

I just read that article, and I didn't even realize those 2 teams had no cheerleaders. If I hadn't read this, and watched the game would I notice? I don't know. I think I'll see if my hubby notices, I wont say anything until halftime, just to see if he'll notice!

I usually stay completely out of the room when he's watching football. He is so busy screaming and cussing, trying to coach from the couch, and yelling about 99 ways to kill a referee...I wish he would look at the cheerleaders more!

Hello slothgurl, At last, you will know Sunday if your husband watches a match for the sport or for the cheerleaders .

"Players and referee are there ; however, it looks like something is lacking in this match, but what ?" You have to wait until Sunday to know if he will notice or if he is a too serious sport lover -- he seems to be one --.

Hi topffer, In India we get to see the pom-pom girls version only on Cricket - The Indian Premiere League... As I dont have a TV set, I cannot see them anytime either on NFL or on IPL.... Maybe they dont like me

Hello thesids, I did not knew that you had cheerleaders in India. I have seen one or two streakers, but I don't remember to have seen a pom-pom girl in a cricket match in UK, and I regret that, as I have never managed to learn completely the rules of cricket ; in my country we have soccer, rugby and handball and no cheerleaders yet. Maybe India will continue this great tradition if they stop in the USA ? I have only two flavors of ESPN, and no NFL TV in the cable here. I think that you can view all the NFL matches on your computer with sopcast or tvants if you have no TV.

In a way women grappling againts each other is kinda arousing in the eyes,In a way its a bit perverted. Its going to be a trainwreck and a hotmess for sure, There is going to be alot of fan service moments. I think they tried it before somewhere. The girls where in skimpy outfits while playing football. There is something sexy about it. Women wont enjoy watching it.

Hello Captain, Your new avatar is strange : I would need time to adapt to it. Cheerleaders were not playing football, and I don't like to see women playing violent games. I don't think it is sexism, because I would not enjoy myself to play them. I have nothing against women playing soccer, handball, etc. but I don't like to see them boxing or play football. Well, I have never seen women playing a football match but I have seen a rugby match, and you would not have find them sexy, especially in the first lines. If you wake up near a hooker of a prop of a woman's team, you are certainly doing a nightmare : fall asleep again .

I am not born in this culture, though I enjoy to watch a football match. You don't feel really the cold when you are jumping and dancing like a pom-pom girl. Just an assumption : I have never been in a cheerleaders' team !
