Money I Forgot I had!

Years ago, I took out a winter coat, & as I was putting it on, I discovered I had a $20 bill in one pocket! I'm always finding money--usually other people's money, though. Of course I was thrilled when I found that money, & promptly spent it, though on what, I can't recall. Probably a book or food.
I got the idea for posting this because another discussion in which I'd been involved re "senior moments," you know, being forgetful. The thing is, I've always been forgetful, & I noticed a few others saying the same thing! So why do seniors get tagged with it automatically, hah? Seems a bit ageist, to me. But never mind. That's not the real topic here.
What is, is that I got to thinking about the money (& other things) I'm always rediscovering...things I'd totally forgotten I had, & wondered a couple of things.
One, am I a rarity, or does anyone else re-find old stuff, sometimes so old you don't even remember it at all, & wonder where it came from--only to have someone tell you they remember it, & when you wore it or drew or wrote it, whatever?
And two, if it's money, what do you do with it then? Spend it? Put it in the bank? Buy someone a gift? Give it to a panhandler? If you spend it, what would you buy with it?
Just curious.

Yes, MaggiePie. Somewhere between hubby and I we have an Applebees gift card that was a gift and we put it away, over a year ago last Christmas. I also had put a Christmas card with a $50 bill away without ever opening it last year. I will say that I was overworked and over tired at that time. I tend to do that when I am over tired. We used the $50 bill to celebrate our anniversary in March of last year. We had breakfast out and then put the remainder with some other money to buy a zoo pass. Right now, if I found an extra $20 I would put it in my vacation stash. $50 might be used for a first month of either cable TV or a first month of a YMCA membership. I find "things" more often than I find money. I love it.

How about making that money work for you? You can turn that $20 into $200, or even $2,000! How do you like the idea? Who knows, that $20 can be your passport to wealth?

Don't you just love it?
I was cleaning one time and found a couple of postal mail money orders. I brought them to the post office and found out they were still good. They were both good sums of $, so I paid a coupld of bills.
Sometimes I'll find a small amount in a coat or pair of pants I put away after washing and the season had changed.
The first one made cleaning exciting for like the only time in my life and the 2nd makes me excited for the change of seasons (although I'm usually excited for spring and fall anyway. The start of the growing season and the heavy harvest one as well as Thanksgiving is coming.)

oh ya I had times like those. One time, I was in the mood to look at stuff under my bed when I saw a thousand. I was kinda surprised it was still there after years. hahah. When I saw it, I just used it to go to the mall and spent it on food, probably. And from that day on, it became my habit to look under beds and couches to see if I have any luck. :)

Hi..
You know what? I sometimes rediscover money that I hid in my books and I can't even remember when I hid it. You see, when I have money and I don't spend it much I just put it between the books and then I would forget about it (not intentionally) and when I needed that book for reference I would rediscover my money and I would just laugh to myself for forgetting it..

I dont find money, like you do. But people do tend to give me extra change. I am a bit lazy. Sometimes, I just dont count the change and put it in my purse. I know I have had to go back quite often to return the monies. I still have about 1 dollar equivalent to return to one medical shop which is not on main line. That salesman gave me bigger bottle when I paid money for smaller one. :( I am afraid that if I go there the assistant would lose his job. But even otherwise, walking that distance only for one dollar because there is no other way is something I keep postponing. My baker and his asistants end up giving more monies to me. I have returned their monies umpteen number of times. He says doesn't matter, you can give it the next time. If it is with you, it is as good as it is with me. But if I forget...

I am always happy to find money hidden away in a clothing pocket. It's like saving money without really trying. Just when you think your day can not get any better, that's when your good fortune will hit your the hardest.

My aunt actually forgets about her money. She just put it on an envelope and just forgets about it. When she was about to leave for the Philippines for a vacation, she saw the envelope and was shocked that she still have the amount. What she did was that she bought a new couch for their living roon and a 50-inch plasma TV. And a friend of her had the same story. She just puts her money under the bed and leave it there. When she was about to move, she the money there worth £15,000. It was a big amount. I did not know what she did with her money.

It's actually happened to me a few times and I have to admit that I get a bit hyper when I do find money from who knows when. The last incident was when I found $10 in an old backpack that I had. The backpack was from my high school days and it was stashed away for years. I started digging around in it and found the money. It wasn't a lot but still surprising. I ended up spending it on food.

Why can't those things happen to me? I mean, finding money that I'd forgotten I had. That happens to my family and a lot of my friends. And not only dimes or nickels, (well, centavos in my country's currency) but sometimes large-denomination bills. Well, if that happens to me (I hope it does), I'd also spend it on something even though my mom had always taught us that if we find money (not ours and not inside the house, but say on the streets or something) we'd have to give it to the church so that the church may put it to good use.

Ahh I love when I find random money in random jeans pockets xD
The last forgetful instance I had was when i thought I lost my glasses at school and didnt have them for almost a whole year than just as I was about to move out of my old house I find them in the most random place (on the very top of my fridge in the back lol ) while cleaning. Then I remembered why they were there in the first place. Too bad I had already bought new ones D:
O well a backup pair never hurts :D

I haven't found any recently but it has happened, usually it's either a dollar or a few coins.
