childlike freshness

I was in a public transportation going to work this morning and there was this mother with an infant on her lap. I watched faschinated by the child who kept looking around him moving his head from left to right and back. I looked up and saw the adults with heads fixed in one direction. Aren't we missing someting by having our gaze fixed in one direction? And I wondered...haven't we grown ups lost much of a child's traits growing up?
Let me cite a few and perhaps you could add more, deal mylotters. One is the curiosity of a child. We stopped looking around us as we get fixated in our daily routine missing the green grass and trees around or even the stones that we step on--the beauty and bounty of nature.
Humility or the willingness and eagerness of a child to learn with all their why and how and what. We grown ups know everything or think we do or pretend we do. We stopped learning. The wonder and eagerness of a child. The age of technology has numbed our senses and enthusiam as everything is within reach in just a push of a button.
To be a child again. Though I think we still could recapture some of a child's traits at whatever age we are and become fresh again.
Don't you think so? Thanks for your sharing.

We should always try to be child again in as far as learning is concerned. We should not stop from discovering new things because these will help us go through life.Everyday we learn something new and we should be able to adapt to these changes. But as adults we should also act as grown ups and mature people while the kid in us should stay to remind us of our innocence.

Hi lexirose. Love your last phrase....while the kid in us should stay to remind us of our innocence. Quite true. A balanced nature.
Thanks for your response.

Yes, it's nice to be a child again! When we are growing, we wanted to grow up fast so that we can do things that only grown ups do. Now that we are grown-ups, we're missing those times when we don't care about so many things, like finances, relationship, obligations, duties, responsibilities, etc! We want a stop and a pause from all of this thing and be like a child, care free, not minding what's around us, sigh! If only we could be a child again, and have a moment of respite, how happy we will be! Child's care-free attitude is what makes them refreshing and adorable!

Hi Edna. Yes, I remember when I was in my secondary school I could not wait to go to College and I would secretly get my mom's lipstick and apply them on and smile before a mirror. Now I have the same wish as you...a breather and be carefree again. It could be hard to be so carefree with all those worries pulling you down. Sigh.
Thanks for your response.

this topic made me smile.
i came to think what you've said as i read this.
we don't lose all those traits. it's just hidden inside us.
we can be like as a child if we want to.
coz we know how to, and that's aproof that we don't lose any of our child traits.
sometimes i act like a child, when i'm with my friends, family, and with my girlfriend.
cause it feels good to be a child, sometimes.
it is a loneliness relieving thing in this world.
:)

Hi mhagskier. I agree with you that these childlike traits are within us just waiting to be tapped. And it could be fun to act like a child every once in a while. Make us feel and look young.
Thanks for your response.

Hmmn, I still think a bit like a child...and I'm proud of that, it's a result of being constantly in the presence of children. I get to see the world in their eyes and more often than not I see the world like they do...though it gets to be muddled by the facts science give, or the bills I have to pay, still I get to get a glimpse of the real reality...

Those bills, yes. Bills do tend to distort our vision.
Thanks for making me laugh, marapplestiffy.
