How is Sunday super to you?

I wouldn't mind hearing everyone's plans for this Sunday, February sixth. I imagine in many homes in America, the TV will be tuned in to the Super Bowl this Sunday night. The Green Bay Packers (Minnesota) will be playing the Pittsburgh Steelers (Pennsylvania), the most anticipated football game (American football) all year. I happen to like football, so I'll be watching it. With the weather how it is for so much of America, I wonder if Super Bowl parties will be as common as they have in years past. My dad always likes to get together with friends on Super Bowl night. He won't be doing that this Sunday I don't think. I think he's disappointed, but I told him he could always watch it with me! All I require is chips and dip. Seriously, is chips and dip not the greatest football food ever? Canadian football is not played just like NFL football, but are there any Canadians looking forward to the Super Bowl? Any other women out there like me who love football? Or are you a long suffering woman who is going to have to watch it with their man because you love him and will cede the remote to him this one night? And how many American men don't even like football? Anyone outside of North America going to try to watch the game? I know they broadcast it all over the world. And this is especially important to the men and women serving overseas. I love seeing the cameras that show how excited the soldiers get when they are watching the game. A little piece of normalcy in a very non normal place. So, what are your plans?

Did you get to watch it? It was the most watched television show in history, beating out last year's Superbowl. I was glad the Packers won. But it didn't seem as exciting as games past. I have wondered if people in Canada watch NFL games, because Canada's football games are not shown here. So I thought maybe NFL games were not shown there. ESPN is the main sports network, and every year they show the winning Canadian team holding up the trophy (or is it cup?) in the top ten plays. The only other time I hear about the CFL is when an NFL players gets cut from their team, and then goes to play in Arena football or the CFL. I'd really like to see an actual football game in Canada. I wish it were shown here.

I will probably watch parts of it by myself. I have went to the parties before but since it gets late before it's over....I need to get to bed as on MOnday I get up at 4 to go to work....anyway..I'll be rooting for Green Bay....since they are from Wisconsin and the Viking won't be in it.....I'll root for our neighbors.

That's nice of you considering the Packers are Vikings are heated rivals. You are above the rivalry!

I am not a huge football fan but I do tend to watch the Superbowl, mainly for the commercials and half time show. We do not go all out for it. We'll get some snacks and have a fun evening at home, that's about it.

I'm not a football fan and, luckily, neither is my husband. So, I don't even have to suffer through the much anticipated (for most) Super Bowl Sunday. Actually, I've only been to one Super Bowl party in my life. I was dating a guy who was somewhat of a jock and he and his friends were all football-crazy. I never could understand the game, even though several people have tried to explain it to me. I was turned off of all sports when I realized just how much money these guys were making! The way I see it, NOBODY needs that much money! Of course, it's the fans who are paying their salaries and I haven't known too many die-hard football fans who do NOT complain about the cost of tickets. Plus, some of these players are referred to as "heros" when the definition of "hero" has nothing to do with these people, especially when we're hearing that more and more of them are committing all kinds of crimes. Still, even if they were all stellar human beings, I wouldn't be watching any football game, let alone the Super Bowl. I have to admit, though, I do like most of the commercials that are shown for the first time during the Super Bowl. I've often wondered exactly when the companies making these commercials start thinking about them because they are always way above the commercials shown during the previous year. In this house this Sunday, it will be quiet because my husband is scheduled for spine surgery this Monday. I have the feeling that he will be getting more and more nervous the closer Monday gets so I may not even hear a peep out of him this Sunday. I was nervous before my spine surgery but my husband has never had surgery before, ever, which makes this one all the more nerve-wracking for him. So, my plans are simple. I'll be doing nothing out of the ordinary this Sunday; just planning this year's garden most likely because indoor seed-starting time is growing near. Enjoy the game and I hope your team wins!

This year I won't be going to a Super Bowl party with friends, but I will be meeting a friend to watch the game at The Game, a local sports bar. I love to watch the Super Bowl, even if one of my teams isn't playing, and that's the case this year. I'll be cheering for Green Bay...no particular reason. I just hope it's a good game and no one gets hurt.

I'm rooting for the Packers too. I used to like the Steelers, but Ben Roethlisburger changed that for me this past year. I don't want to get any Steelers fans riled up because charges were never filed, but he had some issues before this last year as well. Plus, the Steelers have won two in the last five or six years, so they aren't hurting for recent wins.

I'm with you for the same reasons. I may not be going anywhere if my pipes don't thaw out. I had some water for a little while yesterday, but today nothing anywhere. But it's still early and it is suppose to get up in to the 40's, so we'll see.

Good morning, dear Ambie! You just about had my "ire" up as I thought you were going to say something derogatory about Canadian Football..LOL! Then I remembered your my girl, that loves curling, too! You betcha! I will have my "hiney" parked in front of the T.V. for SUPER BOWL..as I am a hugely tremendous fan of most sports...altho some-times I find Golf, a little slow! And guess what, Ambie...this will be the first year that I can watch it in the comfort of MY home! I got the biggest surprise of my life this Christmas...my dear son, T.J., bought me a satellite dish, and paid for one year's subscription for my Christmas present....and he even made sure in his choice of stations, that I got every SPORTS network there is....so now, after 31 years of having to go to the Local Pub (which I hated, as everybody talked and had opinions)drank, and were loud, as they 60" screen and Cable...I can stay at home...and eat anything I want, and just plain "veg out"!!! I love NFC and AFC...just as much as CFC...and what I am LOVING even more is that the "Vancouver Canucks" are first in their division...first time in 40 years! I am so with you, in being thankful that our dedicated "forces" have some enlightenment and connections to the homeland this way. Take care and Cheers!

I know nothing about football in Canada, so I couldn't give an opinion of it. As an American, in our media, the sports most often associated with Canada are hockey and curling. All I know about football in Canada, is just that some rules are different. And every year when they the Cup (it's called a cup, right? not a trophy?), they show the winning team holding it up in the top ten plays of the night. But that's all I ever see.

Firstly...dear Ambie..it is so nice to hear from you, and secondly "thank you" ever so kindly for brightening my morning with a best response. Both added a special sparkle to my morning! The Canadian Trophy is the "Grey Cup"...named after Lord Stanley Grey...and the biggest rule difference is we have 3 attempts (3 downs) to make 10 yards vs. your 4 for 15 yards...and our field is longer! Yes, the US definitely holds the title for the greatest players, as it has only been in the last 20 years or so, that it became a University Sport, so we were not producing players...unlike Hockey and Curling. I hope you had a fantastic day with your Father....and it was a superb game, I thought! Take care...and Cheers!

Ironic you mention this, because just last night I asked if the Super Bowl was this Sunday. Before my son lived here, the only time we watched football was maybe the last quarter of the Super Bowl, just to see who wins. This year my oldest son is here, and already we have watched football for the last few weeks, so I am sure we will be watching this game this Sunday. Since I never had a Super Bowl get together, I'll have to see what else besides chips and dip makes for a good time..lol

I have plans but not for football! Although there are many people who do watch it out here. Usually those who went to college in the U.S. or lived there for a while. My third son is coming home tonight from the U.K, for a few weeks so the family will be together - all in one country at the same time. I will be drinking from my saucer as my cup has overflowed Enjoy it my dear

Well, the weather here in Central Texas is great. Let me first start off by saying that. Arlington is two and a half hours from me. I happened to go to school there at UTA. (Go Mavericks)! For the SuperBowl I will be eating a couple slices of Pepperoni Pizza and drinking some Pepsi. Enjoy watching it yawl, as I will be glued to the set. And for those in Arlington, be safe.

I will be watching the super bowl too. One of the best things about the super bowl is the commercials. Some of them can be hilarious. I like the time spent with friend and family. Only bad thing about the super bowl is that end the season. We have to wait until August to watch games again (BOOOO).

First everything around you super bowl, and matches soccer, rugby and things like that jist don't make a sunday good you know.Instead of the normal sunday sleep until 11 a.m do something for a change.Try to make your own universe bigger, when you see people getting excited, you are not feeling the same as them. You should be the one on tv not them
