My best friend and I were best friends since childhood days. We hang out together. We help each other out in times of troubles. We had secrets that no one knows about. Until now, I consider him my best friend still.
If you say best friend, do you consider one person only or do you have many best friends? I am just perplexed. I for one have only one best friend because I believe if you say the best, there should only be one.
How about you?

hi doggydimon I have only one best friend and I love her so much
as she and I have been close for 20 years, now I do not mean
romantic love, just the love one has for a best friend .We are
both scorpios and we are both diabetics, we have sons who are
also best friends and computer nerds. She has helped me so much and
I owe her emotionally and financially . I felt bad that I could not repay her and she keeps saying to not worry about it. but I do of course.

hello doggydimon!
i have several good friends, and the best friend just like you said there should only be one. we met each other in the college. we argued with each other all the time at frist. it's hard to imagine we can be friend, but we did. after about several months i realized that we really had lots of things in common and our past stories were all alike. she always made me think about the way i did things. when we graduated from the college we had been best friends. after about one year later, she married a good guy she really liked. i was so happy for her and felt sad at the same time, because she would never company me as before. anyway i still like her very much, she will be my best friend forever.

Maybe she is just busy with her married life but I bet she still considers you as her best friend...

You have a point because best is singular, but I suppose I cannot prioritize which of my best friends is my best-est (if there is such a word) friend. So I will just say that I have a lot of close friends - I have 3 cousins I consider as best friends and several close girl friends who always introduce me as their best friends. I consider them all my best friends too. Works for me.

Hahaha... Have this question on my mind. Were you married? If so, if you have 3 best friends how do you choose the maid of honor or best man? Sorry I don't know if you are a girl or a boy yet... hehehe...

Lucky (or unlucky, whichever suits your point of view) for me I have not yet been presented with that dilemma yet. I'd probably just elope to avoid making this decision. To answer your question, I'm a woman.

I agree with you on this subject. Actually, I have 2 best friends, that shouldn't be too many right? We also hangout and play together ever since childhood. Now, we grew up, and we have our own life and we just spend less and less time together. We might see each other once in while. But we always call each other though. That is friendship.

Best friend - a word usually abused and defied out of their meaning. You have a point, a Best Friend should just be the best and if you say it's the best, it should only be one. It's in superlative so it should be the one that excels or stands out among others. Well, I don't have a best friend(s) I have a great close friends, that I treat like my family. Thanks for the post. God bless you! Have a happy life! :)

you can have many close friends but yes, best friend's only one, just hope that you could keep your friendship alive and not fall out like me and my best friend...sigh

When I mean of best friend,I only mean one. Speaking of best friend I have a really sad experience with that and up to now, a sort of I am still on the recovery phase of losing such friend. I don't wanna lose her but she pushes me to do such and the sad part was that I was expecting her doing so many heroic acts for me but in the end it was me whom she accuses of every bad things she does, it was too late when i knew all of it. too late to confront her because we were on separate cities then. Last month I saw her, i felt pity on her, she's still continuing her not so good deeds.

Well, I have 4 best friends. I grew up together with 3 of them, and the other one, I met her in college. I think it's Ok to have "bestfriends" and not just a bestfriend. I went to a different college and I din't know people there. I didn't mind sitting alone but it sure was boring. Then there was this girl. I didn't like her in the beginning and she didn't like me too. But as time went by we became friends and then bestfriends. She's a really good person and supports me always. Now we're in different places and I miss all of them.

This is the cutest thing I have ever read in my life.
I love my best friends.
I have 2 and love them with all of my heart, they are the best companions that anybody could have.
If I lived all of my life without a best friend, I think I might die.
