Have you ever had a discrepancy with the payroll department of your company before? Well, I am experiencing this now. I've experienced minor issues before such as missing holiday pay, etc. But I am pretty frustrated at this point. It's friday night, and we get paid every other friday. Anyway, I get to work at 3 PM - and notice that my check only has 44.27 hours on it. I knew that when I got the money direct deposited in my account this morning that SOMETHING was off. I've been getting crap hours lately at my job, too, so it's frustrating that the payroll department made a mistake and shorted me ~13 HOURS (or whatever it equals). That would be over an extra $100! GRR! Of course as I get to work, at 3PM, the payroll department have already got home and won't be back again until Monday so it's not as though I can call them and see what's up. So I am $100 short for the tuition payment that is due tomorrow. And the best that they're going to do is throw the money they *forgot* to give me - on my next paycheck..IN TWO WEEKS. GRRR. I am a little more than frustrated right now. I know mistakes happen, but I could have used the money on the day I was supposed to get it all. I guess it's my fault for not having a back-up plan. But whatever. Has this ever happened to you? At the worst possible time it could!??

I have had that happen to me a few times. Our payroll system is such that we have to punch in our hours online regularly. After filling in the info, we have to submit it electronically, and then our boss would have to approve our hours. Once in a while, our boss would forget to approve a particular day, or a particular OT day, and our paycheck would come up short. And like yours, it does get resolved, but it takes two weeks to get the correction. Thankfully, I haven't had that need when I get stiffed. I hope you were able to do something to get that tuition paid.

I've had similar problems before, but most jobs that I've worked I got paid weekly so it wasn't as bad. However, I worked for a company that based just a couple of blocks from Ground Zero when the World Trade Center incident occurred. Even though the franchise had local banks, we didn't get our paychecks due to the area being closed off. We had to work 4 weeks without pay, and let me tell you... it REALLY stunk. We were unable to get emergency public assistance because we would still be getting paid before the month ended. Ugh... I hated it!

Yes Maezee, I´m a stay-at-home mom, but we rent an apartment and sometimes I don´t get the whole rent, for no matter what reason. I have to manage with back-up plans. It´s not easy, not fair. But it happens. Don´t worry so much, and take care of your job. Blessings!... Dainy

This happens to us every payday, our payroll dept. gives us less overtime pay than what we are suppose to be receiving and this is not a error that the company doesnt know, it is a practice and they reason to us that our company shoulders for the tax that the government imposes on overtime so it means to say we dont have any deductions at all on our overtime, thats why lets say my overtime hours was supposed to be 85hours, they will just pay for the 70hours instead.

When I was working I always did the payroll, so each time I took extra, extra time as the last thing I wanted was to have an employee complain. I always felt that if it were me being cheated I would be so livid. Sorry you are experiencing this but you have every right to give them a piece of your mind. As now you are in jeopardy of your tuition. Maybe someone can lend it to you until pay day, but if I were in your shoes I would not have any one to borrow that from anyone. I hope you can get your point across so they take extra caution here on.

A lot. Every time our payroll is distributed to us, i always go out of office early, i do not render overtime because i keep on computing my earnings, my overtime pay, my regular pay and deductions. And i always arrive at the conclusion that my salary is then again deficient. Even my regular pay per day and hourly rate of overtime is not equivalent to what i should receive. My working hours is also erroneous, and when we complained, Oh my God! it took us 3months for our problems to be resolved and the worst, some are ignored by the company. Our documents are not properly processed by the head office. The thing that makes us angry are the hardships and sacrifices we render for the company but we are not paid enough. Hope that this kind of problem doesn't exist to other company.
