Are we supposed to be tolerant of this?

A fourteen year old girl was flogged to death for adultery. How did a 14 year old girl commit adultery? Her 40 year old married cousin raped her. The "village council" ordered 100 lashes for the girl and her father has to pay fines of $700.
Four people have been arrested and 14 others are being searched for to explain why they didnt protect the girl. This was done under Shariah Law.

I ask you... is this what we are supposed to be tolerant of? I will have none of it. This is so sick and twisted. I would like to see the 18 people wanted for questioning and the cousin who raped her all lashed to death.

This shows the danger of Shariah law. The man is allowed to do anything and the girl cannot defend herself. These village 'elders' should be brought up on charges of murder. The girl was innocent. She probably screamed and screamed but they just ignored her because they knew even if she had her hands bound, she would be flogged for letting someone she trusted be near her someone who she trusted. Do they want women and girls in that country to have mind reading abilities?
It is good thing that the government over there disapproves of this practice. I only hope they put their disapproval in practice, and bring the 'elders' in on charges and perhaps execute them along with the 40 year old rapist.

So far our government disapproves of it, but there are those who plan to install it, & who are making strides. Think it can't happen here? It's already enacted in England! Oklahoma is, even as I write this, being harassed to knock down their law against its use.
Pray this evil is eradicated everywhere!

I heard and read what is happening in England, especially around London where my mother's family lived. I also find out that everything is geared for the Muslims and I heard they even have Sharia law in the Muslim areas. If this is allowed in the States, there would be no help for those who converted to Christianity from Islam and no help for girls who were raped. I would not be surprised that in the future, there will be people hiding this girls from their families who believe in honor killing and the woman is always guilty, just as what happened when people hid the Jews from the Nazis.

Why of course we're supposed to be tolerant of this--didn't you know? Why, all religions & none at all are equally good (except of course for Christianity & Judaism, which are totally eeeevil), we all worship the same God, & if you don't agree you're a racist bigot!
And if you buy all that, boy do I have a bridge for you!

Oh, me too! I am the lowliest of the low. I am pond scum. I am a patriot & love God, believe in family values & ethics &--my goodness, just like all my extremest ancestors! We simply have no shame.
I think I'll go nuke a whale, now, or...wait...maybe it was Starve a Grandparent Day on our Conservative calendar. I must go check; I'm simply too dimwitted to remember...I hope I can avoid tripping over my knuckles before I get there...
WINK.

This is just one of the barbaric punishments that is stated in the Quran and hadith in the so called "religion of peace". Here are a few more:
Sharia law allows husbands to hit their wives.
Highway robbers should be mutilated or crucified.
Thieves (male or female) will have their hand cut off.
Homosexuals must be executed.
Drinkers or gamblers are whipped.
If you criticize the Quran or the Muslim religion you will be executed.
And this is the religion that they would like to spread across the entire world. The Quran also teaches Jihad against non-believers. While Jihad doesn't necessarily mean war, it CAN mean war and that is obviously what they are waging by trying to kill all non-believers.
Oh, and by the way, once you're a Muslim, if you leave the religion and/or convert to anything else, they kill you for that too.
Sounds like a wonderful religion doesn't it?

Ya, maybe because they kill you if you don't join or kill you if you leave or kill you if you even criticize it... Ya, I think you could call it crazy.

That is horrible news to hear. Does those people have any civilization and any thought of that case, that the girl might be the victim and why she been suffered from it? I just don't understand it. Those people who committed crime should be condemned and judged in front of the public.

Wow!! This is unreal. To think in this day and age things like this can still happen and the person doing the crime gets away with it acting like it is No big deal. Personally this is SICK. Honestly I guess that this just shows how immoral the world is really getting and how twisted. I honestly cannot believe someone can be like this and live with themselves. Really now?

laglen,
I have to admit that this is not the only atrocity and if I may add the last of it.
I am totally against this religion and its extremities side where their laws advocates amputations of limbs, stoning to deaths, beheading and many others which include harsh discriminating sentences on their womenfolks which today is the much talk about topic.
Let me assure you that her perpetrators that defiled her and her adulterous other half will not have a sentence harsher than this girl's. Just makes us glad that we are not at this side of the bargain, ain't we?

Disgusting, yes, but the "politically correct" US masses of fools are oblivious to "creeping Sharia" here and elsewhere and turn a blind eye and deaf ear to the putrid evil and cruelty of Islam.

Oh my god! that is terrible. i don't understand why and how the men always seem to escape from such a thing. In fact legally, he has to be punished as she is not even an adult! This is so sad that things like this keep happening in india i am from india too so indians please do not take offence.
Since there are lot of villages and the members not educated, It leads to all of this. I don't say that the educated don't do anything bad . . .but at some point education would give them a sense of how to be civil about things right!? What good is 100lashes going to make to a kid!? It can affect her mentally after what ever she has gone through!?

I think this is absolutely rediculous. I think the court and the adults should protect the young girl instead of punishing her for being raped. Her cousin who raped her has a distorted moral and he should definitely be the one to be applied 100000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000lashes and publice flogging instead of the innocent girl. I hope that these cases will not happen anymore in the feture and the girl can rest in peace as soon as possible.
