If you were the president will you...step down and resign? Imean this that is happening to egypt weve seen that in the country. Here in manila philppines. Marcos left, erap resigned... And that is what people power is. Strong as it is yet weak at some point... Dragging the incumbent peesidwnt out only to bringsomeone that is not exemplary... So if you know that yo can still do something... Will you step down because half or more of your people asks you too?
Why or why not?? Thank you al in advance.

yes i would. what's being a leader if you do not have followers. if people do not want you to be their leader, then why stay?

When you are the leader of your nation, you have to think about what is best for your country and its people. If i were a president, and resigning was in the best interests of my nation, I would regretfully resign, but i would do it for my country.

it's better to resign or step out of office if that's the will of the people. If i were the President, i would not let bad things to happen on the streets where my people would rally to get me ousted.
It's immoral for being a president to see your crying people in pain, wanting for peace and change yet, you remain to be selfish.
I adore such leaders you step out of office brought by people power. It's not a sign of being weak but being moral action and should be praised. At then end of the day, people will reign and the true government power is in the hands of the people.

I will not step down if I think I can make a difference to the country. The people might make the mistake of judging me too quickly of my skills but improving the country takes a long time. I know how the people see it, they want a fast improvement but that's impossible to happen if they are acting like babies that wants to be fed instead of adults who help to improve the country.

Actually it depends....in a country like pakistan, if the hardliners are protesting a moderate President to step down then i will be against it.
But when more liberate people are protesting to elect their favorite leader then i will support it.

Hello Chiyosan,
I don't know, come to think of it i did imagine being the president. But i have only imagined stepping down after the end of my term and not because I am being thrown out of digust by the people. that would be too humiliating really. most specially if you have not been a President for more than 4 to six years. this person thinks he's running a kingdom or Empire if he doesn't realize that he's running a demoractic country

We have to understand one thing in modern era of democratic rule that peoples' power is ultimate. we have to respect their opinion. They allow the politicians to rule them and do as they like up to certain limit. When their haphazard use of power crosses the acceptable limit the peoples' force erupts like a volcano as in the case of Egypt. It will do world of good for the present regime of Egypt to understand that and step down immediately handing over the power to appropriate authorities. If I had been the president I would not have allowed the situation to get to this level I would have resigned as soon as I knew that the people no longer require me.
