Windows Logon Keeps Telling: Forgot Password?

Yeah, I know I have entered my password correctly. But Windows XP Home 2002 SP3 on this laptop keeps telling me that I forgot my password and keeps asking me to enter it. Meaning, I can't get into my account.
This laptop has more than two accounts, for my wife and also for the kids. I created this too many accounts so that everyone in the family that uses this laptop can easily access our files. But only my account has password. And I can't access my own account, even I am sure that I have entered the password correctly.
I accessed the Administrator account on Safe Mode so I can change my password. I also tried removing the password and entered another set of password. But, I am sure, I entered it correctly. And still, it doesn't accept my password. So I can't use my account when password protected.
Your help in solving this problem is highly appreciated.

Can you or do you know how(I don't) to go into the history of what has transpired on this computer. You would probably have to have acess to the administrator account. It seems that all computer have this history on them and I was thinking if you could get acess to that maybe one of the other users did something that made this happen when you tried to go on. Aren't computers great??!!

Try your event viewer in the start menu. Several options there.

neildc I do not know if this will help but I had a similar problem
trying to access my primary email account I got the bad password and I checked and my password was right but one little thing a period
I had accidentally hit right in the middle of the correct password
and of course my email account would not accept it.check to be sujre you do not have some tiny thing like a period or comman where it should not be.heres another idea is there anyway you could copy and paste your password from your password file? I have done that with my bank account as my son set me up with a long one and if you forget a capital letter or
put a capital where a small letter should be it will not go through so I just copy pasted the password out of my file no problem. hope some
one of us can help; you. thats so frustrating not to be able to log on.

yes hatley, it was all caused by the numlock turned on at startup.

I am sorry to hear that you are having to deal with this problem. I hate computer problems when I cannot figure out how to fix it. I wander if you can do a system restore and choose a date for the computer to go back to before the changes was made and then it may let you sign in with your password. Good luck.

i really hate it too when problems occur and you have a hard time fixing it. i actually tried to restore the password with other admin account but it didn't help.
