What kind of dog is perfect for guarding?

i would say a lab because they can be trained to be a guard dog and be a house dog and learn like sit, stay, up, ect. i have two labs and when some ones walks by are back yard they go crazy (it is a fenced back yard) and they run away lol. but imagine what would happen if some one hopped the fence? Well i trained my dogs to bite and hurt anybody that they don't know if they hop the fence but if like they see me with some one new all they will do is go sniff them lol...well i hoped this helped.....and welcome to mylot!!1!!!

Hello unme and welcome to myLot! I don't know what do you mean by "beside K-9" but there are plenty of breeds that can be categorized as guard dogs. You must be the one who make the choice, as there are others aspects to be considered beside the size and power of the dog. You should also consider the size of your home and yard, the amount of exercise you can provide to the dog, the time you have for grooming the dog, the other animals you have in the household (other dogs, cats) and much more.
