I have been doing taxes for many years for myself, family and friends. I have taught many people who to do it for themselves. the free online programs I have used are TaxAct.com, TurboTax.com and HRBlock.com. I have used a few others along the way. My all time favorite is Tax Act. Because their free version has NO limitations. The other sites you have to upgrade if you are over 50, or if you need to file a schedule C (self employment) or several other things. Each year the other sites find more and more ways to limit who can free file. Tax Act you can file free no mater what. of course you can upgrade too for a fee, but for most it isn't necessary. When you e-file, if there are no errors, if you are due a refund, you can choose direct deposit ( takes about 8 to 10 days and is always sent on a Friday)or a paper check (takes about 4-6 weeks) One tip no matter what site you use, ALWAY Save the return when you are done in PDF (like adobe) on you computer. most free sites won't save it with out you paying them. So back to my question. What is Your fav online free tax site?

The one year that I decided to use Taxact (I think 2007) I got audited. I had used Turbotax before and since and have had no problems. I have to pay the 29.95 version because I have a mortgage and a kid and other loans to claim. The audit really could have been random, but I do want to risk it.
