I wouldn't like coming home to someone digging a big hole in my yard

I don't know if this happens in other countries or not but in the United States when you buy your land it doesn't come with mineral rights so later on someone can come to your land and drill oil on it. This happens to a lot of people and if they don't find oil with the first hole they keep doing it until they do.If you try selling your property because of this happening a lot of people don't want to buy it because they don't want a oil pump on their property because it makes their property look bad, they are loud and they are afraid that it will ruin their water source because oil will get in it. It would be a nightmare for me to come home to lots of trucks with big trailers with big equipment on the them in my yard and them drilling a big hole in my yard and there not being nothing I can do about it legally. Sometimes I'm driving home from town and I see these truck leaving around where I live and I think about that.

geesh. that would be terrible. its like finding out someone got killed in your house after you bought it and no one will buy it from you when they know or finding out you have terrible mold places that cant be gotten rid of and no one will buy it. there must be some protection from that?

Thank you for commenting. It would be awful to find out those things too.I hear there is nothing you can do about the holes because of you land not coming with mineral rights. It would be very upsetting.

I always thought that if they wanted to dig on your property they had to buy you out or something. I have heard of people being forced to sell part of their land if the powers that be decided they wanted to build a freeway through the yard. I couldn't picture having my property destroyed by drillers trying to find oil. There has to be a better way to fuel cars. Soon there will be no oil left. Then what will they do? I hope it never happens to you.

Thank you for commenting.I haven't had this happen to me but this has happened to a lot of people around me. There isn't nothing you can do about it because they are digging for oil and legally you can't do nothing which is bad.You wouldn't think they could do that to your property since your property is yours but they can because your property doesn't come with mineral rights. That's how it is here anyways. Have a good day!

WOW i never knew they could do this. I live in South Florida and never have even seen a oil drill truck on my street or even any where neear by. I just really dont know what i would do if this happened to me or if it even happened near by. I think i live to close to the water for them to choose someones private yeard to do such a thing. I would be in a loss of words and not know what to say if i saw a big hold in my back yard and i wouldnt know what to do with my dog because he would just be barking all day long and the workers would not like that very much at all.

Thank you for commenting. Yep, they can. You might be lucky and there might not be any oil in the ground where you live. Have a good weekend.

Ouch. Even me if I saw that or if I am on your shoe yes I would react the same. Here in Philippines, it's already trespassing if you don't get any permission from the property owner and just do something from their property. For us it's not a good habit. :)

Thank you for commenting. That's good that they can't do that in the Philippines. It shouldn't be a good idea. That would be very upsetting to have that happen.
