it is my first year in collage. I get accounting and statistic for my subjects. In my opinnion those two subjects is very complicated and have very hard calculation. However, when you entrance the work life you will use computer applications for doing about statistic and accounting. Freak, know that I don't get any subject about the applications. I think I don't necessary to study about them in manual theory. It is 3rd millenium and everything is computerized. How about your opinnion?

Yeah most of the part we do not really have to learn the theory or manually but in my opinion I think we should know the basic and how it works for better understanding. The theory/manual should get along with the application or practical lesson.

If you do not know the basics, even if you have a computer program to aid you, you won't be able to use the program properly. It is necessary to give you an understanding of how a business is run or how your income is used for your personal life. A computer is only an aid, you would still need the basics to take advantage of the programs full potential. Take heart, what you are learning is important. It is very useful most especially if you would like to pursue a business course, it could also help you handle your personal finances.

Well, I guess it just depends on how you look at it. It really depends on what field of what that you are planning to go into when you get out of college. If you plan to get a job in an office, even though the computer will do the calculating, you will still need to tell the computer what type of calculations it needs to make. In other words, if you are working in Quick Books, and you need to make an entry, then you will need to know which goes on the debit side and which on the credit side, before you will be able to tell the computer what to do. In other words, the computer makes the calculation, but you do have to tell it what to calculate and in what way. It could also come in handy in your personnel life, especially the economics portion of the course. I think it should be mandatory that people learn basic economics in high school, so that they can at least run a household budget, in case they do not plan on going to college. I hope this is a bit helpful to you silvalestari. If you think positive, positive things will come. Good luck to you!

Those courses have been a part of college cirriculum for as long as I can remember. I had to take both of those when I was college. I was a business major. There was a lot of homework involved with the accounting. I think people need to take them not necessarily to do the accounting or the statistics but mostly to understand how they work and how the financial workings of a business work.

I say yes it's necessary to study even when you can learn it at home with the computer. We learn how to learn, that's school. Being in school is actually preparing you in the actual working situation. Why? When we do have work, we do not just face the computer or the work alone but we encounter many different people and that is one thing we learn in school on how to interact with different with different kinds of personalities. You will not survive the working environment if you do not know how to handle your boss or your officemate. So for me this is very necessary.
