There are only few days to go for the world cup, it will be a good contest between the teams. ICC has made compulsory of using UDRS in the semi final & final matches.
As India has very low and bad experience of using UDRS it might cost us , I think this because I have seen recently in ashes series just because of the review system England could change so many wrong decision that might cost them in a series loss.
The truth is Team India generally suffer more from bad umpiring decisions than most. As such, they should not be against the UDRS. Their reluctance to use the UDRS stems from the lack of success in the initial use against SL. Team India need to learn to use the UDRS properly.
Let's hope for the best and all the best to team India.

I think technology should be used if it reduces errors in umpire decision making.
UDRS seems to be good in certain ways.
But there is one thing that I don't like. A team can use UDRS for a maximum of three times or something like that. Why should it be so?
It is better not at all use it if that is how it is used.
It is like saying only 3 run-outs can be referred to third umpire! Ridiculous!
So my point is use UDRS for every decision that is doubtful. But then this might take a lot of time for a match to finish.
Happy Mylotting!

A team in ODI can use UDRS for two times there is a logic behind it, if a team can ask for unlimited reviews than there will be lot of waste of time and match might not finish in time. With keeping limit on reviews players will be more concerned as the wrong appeal will reduce the opportunity to review again.

Yes, that is why I said it might take a lot of time. So what if Umpire errs more than two times or say two and two for each team, total four times? What if more than four errors are there in umpire decisions? Then team which already has used two appeals can not use UDRS third time.
You can argue that, at least two errors can be corrected. But everyone may not agree to that. Some teams may use their two appeals and then come to know that the very next decision was wrong but they couldn't use UDRS because already they have used it twice! It will be frustrating. So some teams might feel like trusting umpires for the time being until this kind of discrepancy will not be there in using technology.

This would be definitely beneficial for all the teams and as you said that India has lost many matches just because of poor Umpiring.
I am waiting for the mega event and hope that India will win this time.
Thank You for sharing.

I am a big fan of UDRS and I do feel that India needed to get the best out of it with more experience .
Do you know this "There won't be HOTSPOT used in the worldcup" because the owner of the technology refused to supply cameras for it.

So another blunder from ICC , they should have been taken care of these issues . Now less than fortnight to go for the event and the supplier refuses that's ridiculous.
I wish the hotspot also would have been there with the UDRS because it can catch any faint edge from the bat.

Yes UDRS is a great system.
But just like you, even I am worried whether Indian's can use it effectively. Since Team India has least amount of experience in using this referral system.
I can almost imagine Harbhajan asking for a review without consulting Dhoni or Munaf due to his laclkusture attitude being totally unaware of outside leg stump rule.
Hopefully these men will get a crash course in this. I still feel that 2 reviews an innings could be increased to 3 !
I like the way you have expanded the term & thanks for an interesting discussion.

Yes,you are right Nainesh.Indian teams are having a less experience with the UDRS system. Not utilizing this system will have its negative impact on the team which is using it.Obviously using this system will help both the teams against the umpire's wrong decision. It will make the game more interesting and impartial.I f we use this system then no one can complain for their loss claiming that it was the umpires decision which cost them.

The players will be under pressure not to finish the reviews in wrong appeals. The UDRS can go wrong remember the dilshan was given not out in the IND-SL series when we had first go with UDRS.
But still I feel 99 out of 100 decisions are made correctly by UDRS and the human umpire have made around 95 .

It does not require practice to use U.D.R.S. It is just how sure you are about the decision contrary to umpires' decision. It is good that I.C.C. decided to use it for world cup in semifinal stage. They should have done it for entire tournament. As you have pointed out I have also witnessed how English players have been benefited by U.D.R.S. in Ashes series.

Any new system added needs a practice to get the best out of it, remember when the powewrplay option arrived most the teams used it wrong way or in the last five overs only. Although still there are team which loose their way in a powerplay but at least they are experienced enough to know advantages and disadvantages of it.
